Pimping out a Desert Sand Duo Sonic (ideas wanted)
I recently bought one of the Fender reissues with the gold anodized pickguards and chrome knobs. Overall, I am very happy with the guitar, so I'm not looking to change performance elements, but was thinking of getting darker/matching pickup covers and maybe some new knobs, but am open to other/better ideas. What have you done to pimp out your DS Duo Sonics?

Always wanted one of those desert rats.
I’d contemplate putting some or those serious-knurl Callahan knobs on it, and perhaps 3-brass compensated bridge pieces like a Tele.
Ok, yes, I’d want a Bigsby on it, too!

.
4-way switch or push/pull tone pot to get series humbucking tones... "You got a Les Paul in your pocket?" "Yes, yes I do!".
Tele with a steel baseplate or Jaguar bridge pickup with 'the teeth'.
If a trem, then get a Fender Jazzmaster "Panoramic" trem. Otherwise keep with a hard tail.
Perhaps a striped pickguard like the old Teiscos had, silver and gold wide stripes on aluminum. One chrome and one gold knob plus alternating chrome and gold tuner knobs and alternating chrome and gold saddles (match saddle to tuner knob color by string). Of course, all of that would be way over the top. Too much, too much, too. darn. much. So you should do it!

I think it'd look quite nice with plastic knobs, switch tip, and tuner buttons to match the pickups.

My thoughts were similar to those above re: knurled knobs and 3 piece brass bridge. All I would say is maybe an amber switch tip.
These would look pretty cool too methinks.

Damn! I've come to the right place. On the push/pull series idea, I was going to do "series out of phase" for those T-bone Walker sounds, but maybe it makes sense to split them up: one knob-switch=series, the other=out of phase. You wouldn't happen to know where a diagram like that might be lurking?jvin248 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 2:32 pm.

EDIT: I googled and found this. Love the knobs:

Tribi9 did one in a nice light blue a few years back, very solid. See if you can find pics of that one.
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

I loved this project so much I started researching how I could do it myself maybe two weeks ago. I am considering it
