Those look super good. Helps to have a cheap vacuum chamber and to heat the resin up so it gets really runny.

Dude idk why I only just now thought of this, but you should 100,000,000,000x over do a video of you making one of the sheets! I have a hard time translating your logs into mental images so I’d love love love to actually see what the process looks like.
Seriously, my god, that would beawesome as fuck

I will at some point.
Actually last night I tried taking a video with my phone. And it was nearly a disaster. I don’t have a nice camera / tripod setup. So I’ll take some more detailed shots in the future.

I’m waiting for someone to cover a body with tort resin.
I may have to try it myself haha
I’m also starting to wonder recently who makes good pearloid,
None looks like the old stuff

I can get behind this project! I love the old MOTO monstrosities and guitars like Italia that just slathered themselves in pearloids and such.surfin_bird wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 4:09 amI’m waiting for someone to cover a body with tort resin.

Yeah those moto's are big love of mine. I would love a full moto jag or jazzmaster.hulakatt wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 4:54 amI can get behind this project! Are you in Canada?postboredom wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 11:44 amThought i'd post some more of my experiments here. I have a reddish brown tort that I made for a build.
(Mind the double sided tape residue on the surface)
Really happy how this turned out.
and lastly, here is a few pics of two full sheets i did, that have't been cut yet.
If anyone is interested in the two full sheets, i'll let them go cheap. theyre 11"x17" roughly.
I’m just outside Peterborough on
I’m interested in the second sheet - it looks amazing.

I’ve been away for a long time. Wow. Spitfire7’s tort legacy started very similar to this thread back in like 08. Initially it was a project and experiment. He was very open with his technique and process. I think it turned into too much of a FS post and I think was removed? Might have become the spitfire tort is the best tort thread?
Main thing I remember is he when used the back of a spoon to most accurately swirl the colors. He started out putting his tort on top of other guards and then graduated into bigger sheets.
Good luck everybody!

Ha! I see my old pal Pat beat me to the history lesson! In like 2010 we traded a baritone Jag and a vintage mustang.greyman wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 2:13 pmI’ve been away for a long time. Wow.
