Re: Deed_Poll GuitarForm Deluxemaster
Since I didn't hear from MJT quick enough, I am sending the body to GuitarPaintGuys to give it a Metallic Flake Moss Green. That means I will be doing a different neck for it than the two above.... It is how things work when I have multiple bodies. LOL.

Re: Deed_Poll GuitarForm Deluxemaster
The two necks I need to finish up this one and my long sitting surf green Jazzmaster came. Since neither of these bodies are going to be reliced, I have stayed more traditional with my dye work. All I did was amber tint the maple and walnut stain the rosewood to darken it. Here is how it worked out.
Stock Allparts necks.

For the fretboard, here are the two before and than the lower after.

Re: Deed_Poll GuitarForm Deluxemaster
It's awesome! OEJ body?
My only issue with it is that Fender are masters of hiding a lack of line continuity. So the two lines of the pickguard edge that hit the bridge on the 24-3/4" scale Toronado really don't align, and that's the biggest challenge of moving the bridge back behind the guard (i.e. what do you do with the pickguard shape?)
Kevin has opted for a double bump, which works fine. However, when I was developing my full-scale Toro Large Guard design, I actually moved the whole body perimeter "downwards", so the neck heel sticks out further but I get a bridge position that is closer to the original Gibson-scale Toro, and this helps to hide the lack of continuity.
With a 22-fret neck with slight overhang:
Without the neck, you can see the way I've moved the neck pocket looks a little awkward. The pickguard seems to go too far around the neck pocket, and there's a bit too much negative space between the neck pickup and the neck heel. This is why I make sure to recommend using a 22-fret neck with overhang on this model:
And here's my Toro Small Guard design, which has the traditional neck pocket position (it's not jarring to move the bridge position a little down the body, because it's nowhere near the pickguard):
Sorry to derail the thread!

Re: Deed_Poll GuitarForm Deluxemaster
so the small guard toro looks best imho. although, if it's routed for jaguar pickups, i dunno how much use i'd get out of one personally, saying that..... i expected the same thing about rei toro, and that became my main.
that reminds me, my friend's got a small guard toro sitting under her bed and she's not willing to sell it. kinda a pain since it's not getting any use.

Re: Deed_Poll GuitarForm Deluxemaster
I can't find the picture online for the life of me, but I remember seeing an awesome small guard Toro that was routed for WRHBs, but *without* pickup rings - mounted directly to the body, like this
Only it looked super cool and retro! I'd love to do another like that.
Sleazy - yeah, I don't know why, the Jag pickups and Mustang bridge just kinda worked on the sample render for small guard Toro. Most of the ones I've made have been a Cabronita type scheme, which also works brilliantly with the Tornado SG!

Toronadomaster Deluxe! I love the pickguard going down into the controls. I’m sure it exists elsewhere but I can fine any pictures online anywhere. Would have never thought to put these three design ideas together but it absolutely rules. Excited to see the finished product. Reminds me of an off set rickenbacker inspired design I saw a few years back. Like a starcaster mixed with a 360.

Re: Deed_Poll GuitarForm Deluxemaster
Cheers Parry! Annoyingly, since I shifted my vacuum bed along my machine to make room for the neck jig, I think it might be too close to the X axis maximum to make a body that wide! But I could probably work out some way of doing it
