I use a drill press centered over the stock hole as I always so, but one side was several MM off of where it should be. I sent it to MJT and they are going to replace it with another body. (Very kind and cool of them. I just asked if they could plug and redrill it for me.) Since I have another Sherwood, I decided to order a sunburst one. I am torn between two 50's style looks. I have a nine hole gold guard coming in, but I am not sure which version I like best. (I am leaning towards A.)

I vote b too
But… i am so sick of sunburst. Will probably never have another sunburst. I have a gibson 339 which is pretty great but it being sunburst almost makes me sell it all the time. So many cool colors to choose to go with sunburst. But of course these things are subjective

I can go either way. There are so many kinds of bursts and how they use color and thickness can make or break it for me. I am not a fan of the black part being really thick. I prefer a thinner one and where the red isn’t washed out but is also not too thick.

I think a subtle 3 tone burst looks best with a gold guard.

I hear ya and I pretty much feel the same but one of my favorite guitars just ended up being a 3tsb strat from MJT. It's the perfect weight and sounds exactly how I want a strat to sound. I've even grown more fond of how it looks. I've bought guitars for the color before over the sound and largely regretted most of them. I particularly love CAR and have owned many but have never really connected with any of the actual guitars beyond how they look.vpich wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 5:38 pmI vote b too

That’s a nice Stratocaster. Nothing wrong with sunbursts, it’s just i have had many over the years and still have one apart from a bunch of wood finished acoustics, ukes, etc. so for me it’s got to be a color.hulakatt wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 4:50 amI hear ya and I pretty much feel the same but one of my favorite guitars just ended up being a 3tsb strat from MJT. Body arrived. I did the normal squaring of the tremolo route and drilling out the thimble holes. I mounted strap buttons and the neck. I just finished the second shielding coat. Just need to order a tremolo.

This wasn't the exact photo I sent them for reference, but it is pretty similar to what I am going for. Other than clay dots, I think it is looking pretty solid.

I was getting the loaded pickguard attached and discovered the upper slide switch crapped out. These slide switches piss me off. I wish they were more sturdy and reliable. A new one is coming. (To replace this one that has just been sitting since I first wired it and it was fine....)

Re: MJT Sherwood.... now Sunburst Jazzmaster (Pg.3)
MJT has really improved their sunburst. A few years ago I hated every MJT burst I saw- they all had issues like uneven thickness of the black.
That looks great though. I'm glad to see they've gotten better.
