Re: MJT Sherwood Green Jazzmaster
i wanna see this with an aged white guard and black covers. i feel like that's the ideal look for this beast.

I had a beautiful strat body from MJT in Sherwood Green for a long time. It's kind of a mesmerizing finish to look at.

It’s weird - those two sets of pictures look like completely different colors to me and that they came from two different guitars. Was there something drastic that changed between the two sets of photos?

Sherwood Green just is like that, it can change drastically in pics from quite dark to blown out, depending on the angles between the light, the camera and the angle of the body. You can see hints of the darkness around the edges of the lighter. colored pics.Norrin Radd wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 5:10 pmIt’s weird - those two sets of pictures look like completely different colors to me and that they came from two different guitars. Gorgeous! I love Sherwood green. I've been trying to find one; maybe I should just be patient enough try working through MJT!

Re: MJT Sherwood Green Jazzmaster
That is why I did. Japanese or American ones will easily go for over $2000. That is when I say "fuck it" and build my own. At least that way I get to have every part what I want instead of getting one and changing the bridge, or tuners, or pickups, or pickguard, etc.

Re: MJT Sherwood Green Jazzmaster
Plus I am kind of over thick modern finishes. They don't feel like wood. They feel like plastic. Even nitro when put on thick doesn't feel the same as a thinner finish or a hand rubbed oil finish. I like MJT's thinner body finishes in general and the distressed element lets me fret less over any dings or scratches I accidentally cause. While my work on Allparts necks is not like factory ones, I love how my necks FEEL. They are sealed and smooth, but still feel like they are wood. Factory ones are smooth and stuff, but don't feel like a piece of wood to me. I have grown to like that thanks to Danocaster neck experience and some of the worn vintage ones I have had. Hell even the thinner Affinity necks that are satin have a nice feel to me. If I am going to pay $2000, I want to be happy with every part of a guitar. That is why I like to make them myself most of the time. I do have some factory parts ones I really enjoy, but if my fret working skill and nut working skills were better, I would only use the necks I finish happily over factory ones. Factory ones just have better resale and need less from me. I have had a few people get guitars I finished the necks on who have really enjoyed how they feel. That always makes me happy.

Can't wait to see how this turns out! Is the headstock going to be natural?
I really like the MJT sherwood. I'm having them do more of a forest green on my Marauder right now.
