MJT Sherwood.... now Sunburst Jazzmaster FINISHED (Pg.5)

Post by HNB » Mon Dec 20, 2021 11:51 am

I ordered this body a ways back from MJT. It is almost in the finishing stage. Alder body. Novak PAF under Jazzmaster covers. Going to for a simple clean look. Here are the pictures I have so far.

Nice! That’s a very well done light aging (and great color!). Tort guard incoming?

It is going to have white and cream plastics. I was going to do tort, but couldn't find one I liked that had the correct pickguard shape. Most have the upper left angle rounded. :)

MJT did the work. :) They are definitely for hire. :)

The word Sherwood immediately reminds me of Robin Hood. ;D

That's a beautiful body. Perfect shade of Sherwood IMO. What's the story on the neck? Maple or rosewood fretboard?

For real. He's making the rest of us look bad. I think I built 8 guitars last year, but HNB probably had that many completed by February. :D

Seriously though, that body looks great! Thanks for not putting tort on it. I'm sure you already have the neck figured out, but one of those Allparts D+B necks would look nice on there.

It will have a standard maple and rosewood neck. I like to buy Allparts ones and dye/stain them myself. :)

I was definitely doing that for awhile. I am mostly trying to finish the ones I started now. Haven't ordered any new bodies in over two months. (Which is a long time for me. LOL)

I was tending to do one or two a month. A d and b one would be nice but those only come with strat headstocks from Allparts. :)

Tha's a great color. I love the darker sherwood like the OG AVRI '62 RI run.

I like the darker green also. I sent MJT a reference picture to try to make sure I didn't end up with turquoise green like they sometimes look.

I stand by previous comment. 8) Best version of this color by far.

Curious, how long did it take to get to this stage in finishing?
