Fender Jaguar roller knobs to switches conversion plate
Hello everyone!
Some Jaguar players would like to replace roller knobs on the upper control plates to switches. In order to do so, several options are possible. For example, one could order custom control plate where swtiches can be mounted. Another option is kind of conversion plate which is used instead of bracket. There were such idea in the forum, but I never saw a working propotype. So I made some PCBs since I might use this approach in my Jag.
PCB need to be modified slightly before installation. PCB is mounted to the control plate directly. There are two options to mount switches to the conversion plate.
1. To use special 4-40 thread flat-head screws with 100° countersink. Only 1 plate can be used this way. It is required to use 100° countersing tool to prepare the PCB so that screws would be hidden.
This way switches will be 2 mm lower comparing to mounting to the control plate directly, which might be even a plus. But to keep all 3 switches on the same height, I made a washer adaptor (spacer) for single switch as well.
2. Regular switch screw can be used if installing at least 2 plates. It is required to enlarge some holes on the middle plate (between the control plate and the other conversion plate PCB).
This way switches will be 4 mm lower. For someone it might be too much, but you don't need to use contersink.
If anyone is interested, I have some PCBs left.

Re: Fender Jaguar roller knobs to switches conversition plate
I’m wondering if a mustang three way switch would work in the roller cutouts?

Re: Fender Jaguar roller knobs to switches conversition plate
That is some nice work.
The roller cutouts on a Jazzmaster pickguard are basically the same size and spacing as the switches on a Mustang pickguard, but I wonder if there would be enough clearance for the mounting screw/flange at the edge of the body route for the three way switch. The Jaguar rollers are closer together, so you might also have some overlap between the mounting flanges of the two switches with the longer three way switches, and it looks like the lower one might end up hitting the control plate mounting screw, too.
All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

Hey! This looks good!
I tried something like this for my Jazzmaster last year but I failed to fit it into the cavity - so I went back to roller knobs...
But for my upcoming Jag project this might be of interest!
Where and how to get these? How much are they? And are you shipping to Europe? (Or would you rather give me the data to 3D print or cut it out myself instead?)

Thanks for the kind words everyone! That's motivating to proceed with Jazzmaster version I have a spare jazzmaster roller pot bracket, but Japanese one. Will try to figure out what modification should I do to adapt this one to the Jazzmaster.
I can ship the plates worldwide.

JM and Jag roller pot brackets are the same. Should work already.

It's a cool idea, but I think I'd like the switches to stick out a little more. Can you make the pcb adapter a little thinner?

Looks great! Best of luck. I think you could charge a bit more for them, given that the market for this kind of thing is only a limited size, and you have obviously put a great deal of work into developing it!
