Where to get 22.5" Short Scale Necks?

Post by phdinfunk » Thu Nov 25, 2021 5:40 pm

Hi OSGers,

I have played and loved a 22.5" (I think that is the one that is a step smaller than a 24"). I would like to have that again, in a high-quality guitar. Are there any companies that make a short short scale conversion neck (from 24")?

File under "I know it isn't popular, but I liked it and miss it and would like to play it again."
Just add more saturation, okay?

Believe all the newer duo Sonics (imports) have 22.5 scale necks.
Think it either that or vintage. Am not aware of any company that makes them because the scale is too unpopular. Maybe someone would make a custom one off.

Fender hasn't made a 22,5"guitar (Duo Sonic) since the 90's AFAIK. All the current Duo's are 24".

I don't know of any companies making them stock. Squier has the Mini Strat with a 22,75" neck. Maybe that's close enough for you?
Otherwise you'd probably have to go custom. Or get a 90's Duo Sonic neck!

My bad, you are correct.

Squier has the Mini Strat with a 22,75" neck.
And it's a more-or-less conversion neck for a regular (25.5") Strat. Not a strict conversion neck: it needs adjustments at the bridge, but the saddles usually travel enough to cover it. Both ways. Therefore you can get a long-neck mini, or a short-scale regular Strat.

Pretty sure the 90s run of Squier and fender duo Sonics were 22.75
