Re: Burgundy Mist Jazzmaster Project
I ordered a Warmoth neck today.
Roasted maple
Dark Indian rosewood w/ dots
Boatneck shape
6105 frets
9.5" radius
Also got some other random stuff like a string tree, strap buttons, and a neck plate with screws.
I'm going to need to grab some pickup screws. Now, I haven't had a traditional Jazzmaster before. I imagine I'm going to need to get some surgical tubing or springs as well? The screws I'm seeing look like wood screws almost. Do these mount into the wood themselves? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Great looking project! The best custom color IMO. Where did you get the body from?
The pickup mounting screws should just go directly into the body wood, yes. There are strips of foam that go underneath the pickups that then adjust the pickup height as you adjust the screws. I think Fender sells the “actual” foam, or you can get similar stuff from other places (https://www.stewmac.com/electronics/pic ... gI59fD_BwE). Weatherstripping foam from the hardware store also works fine too (that’s what I’ve used on my builds).

I got the body from eBay through a builder named Rosser. They're known for doing pine bodies. I think this was the last batch that they put up for auction, now they're "Buy It Now" for around $175, which is still a fantastic deal! He doesn't do custom orders but there's definitely stuff created in good taste. We will see how all the hardware and neck lines up before I give it a total thumbs up, but aesthetically speaking, it's awesome!

Finished up! Might swap for a tort guard later down the road but I do like the anodized gold. Also might drop down to a 10-52 set. 11s on the high strings is a bit rough because I’m wimpy.

Who did the paint? I may have missed it in the topic.

When you've had a bit to play it and live with it... would you mind sharing your opinions on the Pine body as compared to other body types you might have experience with (ash, poplar, basswood, etc)?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Rosser paints (or painted) them. Not sure if he does it in-house, or if he outsources it though...

I like Pine. I have a Ron Kirn Tele that’s pine that I love. It’s more resonant and maybe has a bit less immediacy on the attack of notes? It’s really not all that discernible. Oh, and they’re light. That’s a big plus.

It looks stunning! Although., I do think a red tort would push it right into amazing.
I've got a pine bodied Strat. FWIW, it doesn't seem any different to me than alder. YMMV
