Pure Vintage 65 Jaguar pickups discontinued?

Post by speedy22 » Mon Sep 13, 2021 10:59 am

Does anyone know if the Pure vintage 65 Jaguar pickups have been discontinued? They seem to be out of stock everywhere, and Sweetwater lists them as being as no longer available.

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... pickup-set

Would be a shame if they are replaced with the V mods IMO.

Those are actually Jazzmaster as opposed to Jaguar. I do appreciate you trying to help though. Thanks for the suggestions.

Maybe this is the sign that they are about to release a new Jag model (with the new pickups that will replace the PV65's)

Good way to be sure: if they really are discontinued you'll see them pop up on Reverb for $450 a set within a week. :fp:

They seem to be in stock at Fender.com though.

Funny thing, I've just noticed they're twice as expensive direct from Fender in the EU (€189) as in the US ($109).
Fuck you, Fender.

Well I'll be. They're now out of stock at Fender.com as well.

Available at scalper prices on Reverb with *RaRe!!!11!* in the description in 3... 2...

Edit: still available from Fender.com in Europe and the UK, but as mentioned before at twice the US price... and for how long?

I wavered over which pickups to buy when I modified my Player Jaguar to a more traditional SS configuration. At the time delivery was the issue for PV'65s (they weren't too cheap either) so I was glad when a set popped up on Reverb for less than the new price of the 'V type I was considering instead. I'm even happier now as I very nearly waited to start this project in the winter.
We're used to Fender items being more expensive over here in the UK, but no doubt the scalpers will try to make a killing on any they have found . >:( I won't be selling mine as they are exactly what I expected when I first started looking at Jaguars, but didn't want to spend the full 60s Orinigal price.

Happy to report I did find a set at regular price. Hopefully for everyone else it's just a short term shortage.
