Decisions, Decisions... (finished*)
Hey forum.
I once again humbly request your assistance in freeing me from my unending indecision. I need help deciding on a pickguard color for a guitar I’m putting together to surprise a family member.
Here’s the guitar:
And the neck:
The pickups are nickel cover humbuckers that will have black rings around them, and it will have mustang style switches along with a Toronado bridge.
I’ll be ordering from Warmoth. The options I’m considering are:
A ) Mint
B ) White Pearloid
C ) Vintage Pearloid
I think white pearloid is probably the safest choice. I’m leaning towards the vintage pearloid though because I think that a slight yellow would really make the green in the stripes stand out well. However, I do worry it could be TOO yellow, and thereby make the whole thing look off. I’ve been thinking that mint could look good too. Not positive though.
What input have you, forum?
I appreciate the help

I voted other for consideration of a three ply black.

This is a rare case where stark white pearloid would work best I think.

See, I thought that initially too. But I’m worried that it might just make it so the stripe looks white as well, whereas other colors would make the stripes color pop more.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 8:00 amThis is a rare case where stark white pearloid would work best I think.

Black.
Mint has the potential to look very sickly, and pearloid is horrible in every sense.

I think so too! Kind of regretting not going a bit narrower on the middle stripe, but other than that I’m really happy with it.

I did end up going with white pearloid after comparing images on the Warmoth forum. The deciding factor for me was that the inlays are also pearloid. So even if it doesn’t make the stripes pop it’ll still match the fretboard.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 8:00 amThis is a rare case where stark white pearloid would work best I think.

I would say that you were. The whole electronic situation aside, I think it looks rad. Especially when outside in sunlight.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 5:36 pmWell, I hope I was right.hillerheilman wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 5:14 pmI did end up going with white pearloid after comparing images on the Warmoth forum. That looks great! Yeah, the stark contrast of the white really brings out the color of the stripe.
