Anyone offering nitro refinishing these days?
While I have the money, I want to refinish a guitar or two. Yet, it seems impossible to find a person who does a really great nitro refinish. MJT only does aged and easily worn/checked finishes. Rowyco doesn't do nitro anymore. My Internet searches have not been super successful so far.
Who do you guys think is good that I should check out? I'm looking for 60s metallic colors.

I believe Guitar Mill here in TN does them. Take a look at the beautiful sparkle flake Jaguar they just did for Mike Adams that he posted on Youtube today.

There is also a person on Reverb going by Copacetic Customs that sells nitro refinished stuff that may also do it. I don't think those are the only ones but someone else here may be able to provide some more info.

Guitarmill definitely still does nitro. I have a nitro-finished body from them that's supposed to arrive tomorrow.

Dustin Bloomer at BloomDoom Guitars does nitro-finished bodies on his Reverb store, as well as re- and new finishes if you hit him up. More VOS than MJT's "played by a literal chimpanzee for 12 years", less pristine than the Guitar Mill or Fender stuff, but he's a really chill dude to work with and has extremely reasonable pricing (literally would have cost me more to nitro finish it myself and wouldn't turn out as good, or to get it poly finished by pretty much anybody I could find).

I keep seeing them recommended but their website still says: "We are only offering re-finishing options on the following: Vintage guitars that need restoration Gibson guitars that need a fresh look or have some damage. We are not able to tackle anything else as we do not have the time for it. "BeeTL wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 3:53 amStarr Guitars in Orlando, FL.

If you strip it first they might help you. Their website said that when I gave them an unpainted body and it wasn't an issue. They did excellent work. I previously used guitar mill once, which came out great but took 8 months

Re: Anyone offering nitro refinishing these days?
Thanks guys!
Yeah, the hard part is finding someone who will do a refinish and not just finish an unpainted body. I may have to do the stripping of the finish and the prep myself it looks like. Thanks for the suggestions so far. I've followed up on a few. Bloom was not able to refinish. Guitar Mill I'm still waiting to hear back from.
Anyone else you all suggest that haven't been mentioned, feel free. It's a bummer that it's getting harder and hard to find affordable refinishes. That's part of what makes having your own guitar fun: being able to customize something you already have. Too bad it's getting prohibitively expensive and more difficult to acquire the services.

I notice Portland Fret Works has prices for refinishing necks and bodies. Never used them, and don't know if they do lacquer, but worth an email:

Re: Anyone offering nitro refinishing these days?
Nobody wants to do it because stripping an existing finish sucks.
If it ‘has’ to be a finish on top of bare wood you’ll have to do it yourself or buy an unfinished body.

Oh, I hadn't noticed that Portland Fretworks still offered it! I know 12th Fret's guy stopped doing it, so other than big repairs, they won't do it anymore.
