Affinity JM HH ferrules sticking out

Post by Ovibos » Wed May 19, 2021 6:57 am

I've figured out everything I want to do except this one thing:

How do I get the string ferrules on the back to be level with the body?
Do I have to drill it out?
Are there different ferrules I could buy?

Those ferrules sort of suck. I had the opposite issue with mine where they kept falling out. They are the smooth side press in kind. There is probably finish or something under it cause it not to sit in right. I would gently press it out through the string hole from the other side and check. It might be a paint booger that you can pick out of the bottom. Worst case you could use a drill bit the same size and not using a drill, but your hand, just twist it to remove the stuff in the bottom. :D

"Sort of suck" is an understatement. ;D

They're all sticking out at an even height so this feels like a (poor) design decision.

Since you're in Puyallup, I'm going to assume you work at Warmoth and know what you're talking about when it comes to drilling. 8)

I don't work at Warmoth, but they are down the road. Don't use the drill, just use the drill bit and a rag to hold it. That way you don't chip out or accidentally drill into the body. :) It is sort of using the drill bit like a reamer.
