Re: Meteora Esquire Project
Cool. Will do. The sides are already pretty good. It is the front and back that are taking a long time. They feel smooth, but I can still see the flatter parts in the surface that need more clear.

Re: Meteora Esquire Project
My neck came in. I picked up a used rockmaster to take the neck from it. It has a strat heel, 25.5 scale length, nice tuners, and a nut installed. It was like $125 for the guitar. I like using these necks sometimes because the headstock shape is cool. The logo sands off easy also because it is just screen printed in black on the surface.

Body progress. I did the simple wiring. I don't have a jack cup yet or strap lock buttons, but otherwise the body is all set for the neck.

Re: Meteora Esquire Project
Neck plate came so it is looking closer to being done. My custom made vinyl "L" also came in.
Just missing strings and the jack cup.

Re: Meteora Esquire Project
Thanks! It is kind of annoying to have it so close and be held up by two parts. LOL I can just look at it and "guess" how it will sound? LOL

It's cool you went with the big L on the pickguard.
reminds me of Lindt Chocolate.

Re: Meteora Esquire Project
It is the L from my logo which is a font type I modified. (The lower horizontal part was cut and reshaped a little. I sent an eBay person a png of it and they dye cut it for me. I got two copies so I gave one to my daughter.

Re: Meteora Esquire Project
A demo. (It isn't done yet, but I hooked a jack to it temporarily.)

Related to this video, I had quite an adventure with this today. I got the strings on and noticed that even with the saddles maxed, the strings were snug on the fretboard. I had the option to order longer height screws or rout the neck pocket. I chose to rout the neck pocket because I thought the saddles being super high up would look weird.
I tried to get wood on it to help make sure the router was level and the wood I had was too thick. I took the pickguard screws off so it would be more flush and was able to do most of the pocket except the very front. I tried using my chisel on it, but when I put the neck on, it was like it was reverse shimmed and angled up. I did another go at the router being super careful and was able to get all of it flat and (as far as I could tell) level. I got it inside and put the level on the body. (It was level.) I put the level on the neck. (It was also level now.) So I figure the neck is now parallel with the body. (Which is what I was going for.) I think I ended up taking an 1/8" or so out of the pocket. It now looks about as high off the pickguard as my Jazzies do. Maybe a little lower in the pocket, but that actually works better for these hardtail bridges. With a Jazzy bridge, you can get it pretty high without issue. Hardtail with saddles only can angle so far up....
I need a shower now since I am covered with wood, but I am glad it is done and I am glad it works now. I hope I never have to do that again for a body. LOLOL
