Hey all,
I recently bought a CV Jaguar and plan to do quite a few mods to it.
One of the mods include a modified version of the cobain mod on the lead circuit. I'll install a dpdt 3 way Fat bat switch I got off ebay for pickup changes, and utilize the remaining two slide switches for the strangle switch, and a series/parallel switch.
The other mod I'd like to do is install a similar switch to the fat bat in place of the slide switch to activate the rhythm circuit.
It appears to be a dpdt on/off switch, and I'm having trouble trying to find something suitable.
Has anyone seen a this mod before?

Re: Replacement rhythm circuit switch
The rhythm switch in the stock circuit (below) is DPDT ON-ON. So fat bat would be like this (you can probably find cheaper) ...newmindsets wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 4:42 pmHey all,

Note that the jag lead circuit switch bodies look somewhat like DPDT but are usually only SPDT as supplied by Fender in MIA/MIMs. Squiers may vary. Either way they are wired as only SPDT.

Thank you for your reply.
I wired up my Jag successfully using this diagram:

Everything appears to be working, except the ON/ON DPDT I used for the rhythm circuit is somehow reversed. That is, when switched down it activates the neck pickup, rather then when switched up.
Here is a picture of the controls:

I wired it exactly how is should be. I have no idea what the issue could be.

Toggle switches connect the lugs that are opposite the toggle, since if you think about it for a while the lever is closest to those lugs on that end. Just rotate the switch 180 degrees and you're all set.newmindsets wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 12:00 pmThank you for your reply.

Re: Replacement rhythm circuit switch
Wow the answer was so obvious...
But of course there's always another issue! Now my bridge pickup is (basically) completely dead.
I did mod the bridge pickup in order to achieve the series mod by clipping the wire that grounds the claw to the pickup, and soldering a new wire from the claw to my shielding. However, I don't think changing the claw grounding could affect the pickup - but I may be wrong.
When testing the guitar cable with a multimeter I get a reading for the neck pickup, and nothing for the bridge. When I activate the series switch, the reading more than doubles from the neck pickup.
I do get a very low signal (sound) from the bridge pickup through an amp.
Could this be a grounding issue? Even when testing the pickup wires with the multimeter right to where they are soldered I get a zero reading.
Not sure how a pickup could just die, so I assume there must be something I overlooked or did wrong.
The last thing I can think of is the solder joint on the series switch that goes to ground. I was having a very hard time getting the solder to stick to any metal part of the switchcraft slide switch, but I thought I had soldered it well enough. Could a bad ground joint here short the bridge pickup?

Re: Replacement rhythm circuit switch
I figured it out yall!
The bridge pickup simply was not grounded correctly. The wire from the series slide switch just needed to be grounded to the shield, and now everything works perfectly.
