MJT/Musikraft build

I've been dreaming of doing this build since I was a teenager. I started as a bass player and would drool over 70s Jazz Basses with their Black B and B necks. The overall concept for this was a 59 style Jazzmaster body with a 70's style B and B neck. Prior to this, my Jazzmaster was sort of a mishmash of random pieces and parts, and while I loved it, it definitely need a bit of TLC. So this year, I finally decided to change that. I bought an Olympic white MJT body off the the for sale section here and put in an order for a Maple black blocks and binding neck at Musikraft. I ordered the neck in November and it just arrived. The neck is pleasantly chunky and has a fantastic feel. It has the thin lacquer sealer they offer and it feels almost like raw wood with a light satin texture.

It has Sunday Handwound pickups in it. Standard Jazzmaster in the neck and a Jazzmaster/tele hybrid in the bridge. It is currently wired like an LP with two volumes and two tones. 500k pots all around. I may put 1megs in eventually, but right now, I'm happy with the 500k. AVRI trem with Staytrem arm and an AmPro bridge. Hipshot locking tuners and Tusc nut. I'll probably get a Panorama trem if Fender ever gets around to releasing it.

I'm incredibly happy with how it turned out. It's a couple pounds lighter than my other Jazzmaster and much more resonant. These pickups slay! Anyway, on to the obligatory OSG deck photos.













I'm still debating the overall aesthetic of this guitar. I may end up going for a black anodized guard instead, or I may go back to cream plastics. I'm not really sure yet. But for right now, this will have to do.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It is definitely going to stay the way it is for the foreseeable future.

It is going to take just a bit of work to get it playing properly. The nut wasn’t cut deep enough and is causing high action on the first few frets. There are also a couple of high frets that could use a level. All normal things I would expect to do on a parts guitar, so don’t take it as me bashing Muiskraft. They did an excellent job. There are just some things you have no way of knowing until a guitar is together. I am honestly surprised it played as well as it does right out of the box. I’m going to let it settle in for a few weeks first though and really try to pay attention to what it needs.
