Neck for a Paranormal Cyclone?

Post by graceless » Thu Mar 18, 2021 7:33 pm

Have one of the pink Squier Paranormal Cyclones. Has some fret sprout up high by the 20th fret, and thinking a better bet is to just swap this neck for something else entirely since the body is pretty fun to play. Super light at less than 7lbs and love the colors.

What neck would I be looking for? It's a Mustang body but I'm not the biggest fan ever of Mustang necks (I have the Gibbard Mustang and that thing is one thicc boi...)

Would prefer something like a slimmer neck that I can find on my 65 Jag or MIA Strat (which has a C-to-D profile).

Any tips on this one?

The Cyclone IIRC is 24.75", not 24" like a Mustang, so while I'm not sure how it'll actually line up, I'd be looking at one of those 24.75" conversion necks for Strats. See if you can find someone to give you measurements (saddles-12th and 22nd-edge of pocket) on something like a Warmoth conversion neck to see how close it is.

A conversion neck for a Strat won't work. It should only work with a 25.5 scale.

You need a proper 24.75 scale, so you're pretty limited there..

Is there even a single other Fender neck with that scale length?

I think you should look into getting this neck refretted.

Classic Squier. Hundreds of dollars of work on a $400 guitar

Powercaster, but you'd have to put a new screw hole for the heel

Could I convert this to a 25.5" scale with a strat neck? Usually the problem is intonating when shortening a scale length, right?

No, you'd need to move the bridge.
