Quick update.
I went with the Rutters chopped bridge and angled switch control plate which I'm going to use reverse-style. I LOVE how the shape of the bridge echoes the shape of the JM pickup covers and the angle of the switch picks up the curve of the body.
I figured if I ditched the rotary pickup switch idea I could just get a premade wiring harness and make it easy on myself, so that's what I'm gonna do. I also found these sweet Russian Big Muff-style knobs at Small Bear.
Waffling a bit on the finish now. I'm considering doing something wild with Unicorn SPiT or wood dyes and maybe using some black grain filler and/or doing white paint over the dyed wood and sanding back. Basically I have a lot more time than money right now, and getting artsy with a finish and saving some money is sounding better than dropping a few hundred bucks and waiting an indeterminate amount of time for someone else to do it. That said I've also considered doubling down and getting a metalflake paint job for it.

Neato. Never seen that style of knob before.

I think some kinda contrasting filler and stain would look really sweet, either something like the Gibson Cherry Red or that doghair that Collings does, with black stain and white/silver grain filler.

I’m thinking of a wilder multicolor stripe thing following the grain lines.HarlowTheFish wrote: ↑Thu Feb 18, 2021 8:56 amI think some kinda contrasting filler and stain would look really sweet, either something like the Gibson Cherry Red or that doghair that Collings does, with black stain and white/silver grain filler.
It’s alder, so any contrasting filler would be pretty subtle.

Been feeling like I don't have a ton of free time lately and kinda have too many natural finish guitars. I also wanted a little more flash for this one for (hopefully) eventual live use, so off to paint it went today.
Maybe sometime in May this will be a guitar.
