Really cool for sure. Now you need to find some lace patterns with frogs in them.

Re: Lace Stencil Project Dano Inspired Jazzmaster
It really wasn't too hard to do. The only mistake really I had or issue was Dan told me to spray a wet coat on the lace and pull it up after 30 sec. I waited a minute instead because I was worried about smudging and the lace stuck to part of my silver paint and pulled a tiny spot off that I drop filled with red. Otherwise it was pretty simple. Wet spraying down gives the most detail. If you spray at an angle too much, you end up getting paint under the lace and you lose some of the little details.
Dan told me though that it is sort of a hippie thing to do, so perfect isn't ever a goal.

Re: Lace Stencil Project Dano Inspired Jazzmaster
Started doing clear today and caused a problem right away. Normally I have been using wipe on poly because I have been doing mostly stain work and dyed necks. I started wiping poly on the body and fuzzies got everywhere! I did my best to get rid of them, but there are a bunch. I went to the store and got some spray poly. I figure after the 72 hour dry time to recoat, I will use really fine sand paper to try to knock off that junk before I do more layers of clear. Live and learn right? I haven't done metallic finish work in a long time and I forgot how rough it feels because of all the sparkly stuff. Here are some pictures with a little clear. Damn fuzzies. LOL

I am not super upset. I am pretty sure I will be able to get rid of them when the body is dry plus using rattle cans in a garage isn't likely ever going to make something perfect. I have learned to be ok with my best with what I have.

This might be my favourite of all the builds youve done actually, that finish is so fucking cool I may have to try doing something similar myself

Re: Lace Stencil Project Dano Inspired Jazzmaster
I wetsanded the body gently with 600 a little by hand and then 1500 by hand to get it ready for another can of clear poly on Monday. No more fuzzies! It is looking way smoother now. I didn't go for perfect flat because there will be more clear and also I didn't want to risk sanding through and screwing up the lace print.

Toreador red! I know toreador is a synonym for Matador, but I always think of the race of vampires from The Masquerade RPG.

Re: Lace Stencil Project Dano Inspired Jazzmaster
Thanks! I was torn when trying to pick colors and stuff. I was going to do white and silver but then I thought it would be too much like my other white ones. The CAR MJT thread where it is dark CAR and the Troy sig Oxblood inspired the color change to go with the silver I had picked up with white in mind. I ordered a single ply black pickguard for it. It is going to be pretty dark, but I think having the plastics and pickguard black will help give a neutral area instead of making it more busy with tort. I will still show what it would look like with tort when the guard comes just for fun though.
It is going to have a sort of Vampire theme with the plate and decal.
