My 2018 partscaster with a Sunday Handwound Pickups Micawber set. The neck pickup sounds like rock n roll and the tele pickup at the bridge has the sparkle without being overly bright.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the look of this! But also because of the neck pickup poles being at the top, it kinda looks like it's rolling its eyes! "Stairway to Heaven *again*!?"
Ha! I year you. :) I just played this one yesterday after tinkering with the pickup height a bit and I think I’ve finally achieved both good balance and great tone for both pickups at the same time. If anything, that neck humbucker is rolling its eyes at the number of Stones tunes I keep playing!

Stones tunes - I should have known! HB neck and Tele bridge... It's a combo I have in my Customaster

Thought I posted about it in this thread already, but I found on that guitar that a treble bleed on the neck pickup bole control was absolutely the key both to unlocking single-coil tones, and to balancing the pickups ;)

CME limited edition Olive Player JM. Oiled the hell out of the pau ferro fretboard to darken it up and dropped in a jazzblaster conversion pickguard I had laying around. The olive looks sharp with mint.

i think this is cool as fuck BUT the mint looks a bit odd to me. but at the same time, the only other colour pickguard would work would be matte black and then you'd be getting into military cosplay territory

I agree that mint on a green guitar can look weird. It's almost like it's creamier / whiter since the typical green contrast isn't there. My pciture doesn't do a great job of capturing the actual look of the body and pickguard color in-person. This pic of an olive Tele with a mint guard from Reverb is more accurate to what it looks like IRL.

Agree 100%. I think that's a fantastic look/configuration.

Looks badass! Did you have to do any rerouting of the body to get it to fit WRHB pickups? I have a CME sunburst JM and was considering converting it to a jazzblaster. Thanks!

I did not route the body but....

I got a conversion jazzblaster pickguard that had the neck pickup moved towards the bridge to accomodate WRHBs with standard JM routes. That said, I did not anticipate that the WRHBs and their mounting screws would require a deeper pickup pocket. So, I took out the dremel and cut off the extra screw length below the pickup. This got the guitar assembled and the bridge pickup was at about the right height. The neck was still too high so I used the adjustable pole pieces to move the magnetic field further from the strings. Not going to lie, it's a bit hacky.

Here's the reverb shop I got the pickguard from. Send him a message if you want a pickguard like I used here.

Thanks for the insight! Sounds intimidating given my limited skills… If you had photos of your process, I’d love to see them. The finished product looks great!

I'm *this* close to converting my '67 Jag to take WRHBs

I'm not sure I can resist much longer 😕

I used the standard Jazzmaster pickup covers to mount humbuckers. Duncan JB in the bridge and an overwound PAF in the neck position.

Image
That’s a great idea ! Did the humbuckers fit in the standard pickup route ?

It's been a while, but I think I had to route out just a bit where the humbucker mounts went into the body.

Bootstrap Luke Surfer in the neck and Extra Crispy in the bridge.
