Behold! Coronamaster - finished on Saturday evening. This was a really solid guitar to begin with, so not much of a surprise.. and it came together just as well. I spent yesterday playing it acoustically for the most part, but I did get to play through an amp for a bit. Not disappointed! It's very loud and rings out like crazy (behind the bridge). Played through an amp, it definitely maintained JM characteristics, maybe just a touch more woody(?). It's very strong and present-sounding, so that'll take a bit of getting used to, compared to my Sheraton (which looks exactly like this guitar, hahahaha). And man - that trem! Oh, how I've missed it...
I had to remove the two outside screws on the trem plate, so the strings aren't resting on them (part of why it rings out so beautifully), so I'm considering getting a Mastery trem for it, if the world gets back to some semblance of normal. Of course, I'm ITCHING to get this thing to practice with the full band, but that's not going to happen until all this blows over.
I'll see about getting some more shots of it later. For anyone interested, here's what happened:
Matched headstock, Fender 70s (repro) button tuners, "F" neckplate, cream pickguard, PickupWiz CBS-style
JM pups (my favourites) with open JM/Humbucker conversion covers, 1meg pots, cloth wiring, Staytrem bridge, Jag mute (cosmetic, for now), vintage Coro knobs, AVRI trem
