Nicely done! How are the pickups on a hollow body?

Thanks everyone. I broke a high-E this afternoon, so I took it as an opportunity to tear it back down to file out the already suspect trem holes and fine-tune all the piddly things that were bothering me. I was getting quite a lot of annoying crackle from the pickguard, so I took some Super-77 and tinfoil to the back; then ran a ground wire from the bracket to the ground plate under the pickups. Worked like a charm! Dead quiet. I also adjusted the pickup heights while I was in there, but I think I'm going to have to lower them a bit more still. Intonation is spot-on.

It's got the centre block, so they're still attached to a significant hunk of solid wood. They do the Jazzmaster thing, for sure. Maybe a touch woodier? Or maybe it's psychosomatic and I'm telling myself that because it seems like they would be?

What kind of pickup covers are those? I don't think I've seen them before.

They're Jazzmaster/humbucker conversion covers.

Also, I'm fixated on that black/silver Mastery set you have. If we ever get back to a somewhat normal world... I'll be putting a set like that on this guitar :?

Wait, so did you rout an HH Coronado to JM routs...and then put HBs in JM conversion covers? :derp:

Hahaha, um. No. Modern Player Coronado with Jazzmaster routes (pickups, bridge, trem). PickupWiz CBS Jazzmaster pickups in non-traditional covers. I like the look of the open pickup.

Ohhhh you meant you put the JM pickup in the conversion cover just for looks. That's clever. For a sec I thought they were HB-sized single coils placed into JM sized adapters into a guitar routed for JM that started with HBs...which would itself be like a modern art commentary on guitar mods.

I like the way they look, and I'm finally following what happened haha.

That is just classy. Really nice job on this! :-* :-* :-* I had had to reread the pickup / cover config but now I know whats going on  . Are the grey bobbins exposed? What a cool way to dress them up.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the kind words 8)

I've been playing it quite a lot and am really happy with how it turned out. It stays in tune really well and sounds fantastic with the pickups adjusted to the right height. I'll grab some more detailed photos and post 'em this weekend. I feel really fortunate to have something nice like this, that allows my brain a momentary shelter from all of the crazy that's been going on.
Stay well, OSGers!
