No, if you look closely at the original piece then you'll notice that it is fully transparent plastic with the back coloured black apart from two small stripes. These small stripes than appear as a silvery colour when viewed from the top. Quite smart really... as any damage to the top bit would never affect the silvery stripes effect.

Re: Yamaha SG2A /SG5 build
Yes for the original but i do it otherway ,for like original i need to print in transparent and glue some stickers ,too much complicated as at this time i béguin to be fed up with
Spend yesterday to drill to fit all and see if it is good ,lot of thing bother me like hole at wrong place ect.....
But the real thing that bother me it is my pickups who doesnt works as wanted
Multiple try (to see if it wasn t a one only who doesnt work ) but there is no level at all ,i have try the bass one it works, then i think it is a magnet polarity in the wrong side ,need to confirm that ,will try with the bass magnet to be sure
I think the magnet i have ordered have not thé field in thé good direction ,if it is that i will contact my supplier to know why they deliver me the wrong one,i have also epizootics one to try
If it is not magnetics mistake i don t know why it didn t work cause i have made them close to original in size,k ohms ect.....
The others ways i think are my screws are not enough magnetics ,the magnets are not enought powerfull ,the pla for bobin is not thé good material(maybe it is not enough electricity isolant),too much gap in thread for screws ? Ect....
Lot of things to confirm
Edith
That s it thé magnet have wrong oriented field ,now it works
One things less to do

Re: Yamaha SG2A /SG5 build
some news ,i have mount the all thing ,it looks like a guitar now
i have fight with the wiring cause my blend pot don't works as yamaha' s one ,need to invert ground and signal ,if not the 2pups were send to ground in the middle instead to have the 2 working ,i have desolder the pot ,control all with multimeter to understand the non working and wire it the wright way to make it work like it should
then it looks like it ,there is very little works now to go in the finish line with paint and varnish
the bad is that i haved my second injection against covid and now i am ill since 4 days ,then i can't do nothing

This looks f***ing incredible Ludo!
It looks like the weather forecast for next week in your area isn't too bad, maybe a good time to get the paint flying?
Regarding vaccination, I feel for you - got my third dose yesterday and that thing hit me like a ton of bricks during the night. I don't remember feeling this ill for years, including the two times I got covid. Get better soon!

Re: Yamaha SG2A /SG5 build
You could keep the guitar inside for the Z-poxy part of the process, and keep it close to a heater. Theoretically, it doesn't give out any fumes. I say theoretically because I seem to get a small allergic reaction when I mix the two parts together; it is fine afterwards, but I wear a respirator and goggles when I mix it, just to be on the safe side.
Are you going for those Belton Molotow rattle cans in the end? I realized the other day that Belton sell an actual primer - I have simply been using their Molotow Premium Signal White for this purpose, but the 'Apprêt Universel' should be better - more solids, designed to be sanded, etc. I checked the solvent list on the MSDS and it should be fully compatible.

It is going to look absolutely great...and sound even better...I can already tell
