Fixing up my friends guitars and the nut made me laugh. The absolute state of this...
Ouch! Is that a plastic or bone nut? Can't tell from the pics

Love the shape of it. Almost like a mixture of offset and thunderbird :w00t:

This is looking really classy! Love the black guard.

Is the volume knob placement your choice? I’d probably hit my hand on that with the way I play when I get over-exuberant ;D

This one was kinda messy when it arrived and didn't work. Did a little tracing, cleaning up and re-soldering from top to bottom. Reused the existing wire so things don't really match up but it doesn't really matter to me. A little point-2-point and the meter says it's good so far.

Looks good. Any reason why you decided not to use the existing brass plate?

Yeah. Was wondering that as well. I have the shield on mine and have been quite happy with it.

Just bulky. When it arrived it was making the guard buckle and didn’t sit flush on the body. I didn’t have it on my last one and it was fine. The tape is just slim and an easy fit, less finicking around. I already had plenty in of the tape as well.

I have a question which doesn't deserve a whole thread, methink, so here it goes: when dying a body (black), would you need to mask the binding (white), or the risk of it darkening is low/inexistant, being plastic? Thanks for your feedback.

I guess it depends on the types of dyes you use but the risk is very low. If it does darken it some you can take a Q-tip with alcohol and rub most of it out. The light sanding you'll have to do after the dye should take care of whatever's left on the binding. But I'd still make a test on a scrap piece of the binding (or on a spot near the top of the biding on the side, where you can scrape it easily without touching the wood if you don't have a scrap piece), just in case. :)
