Yep, either that or manually add the img tag by typing it or highlighting and selecting the square portrait icon above the smilies.

I don't think it's gonna work, as vintage guards were made of celluloid and modern ones are plastic and they react very differently to sunlight. Newer plastics are much more resisting to UV rays. In any case let us know how it works.

So two bleach soaks yielded no color change.
The first was 1:3 water/bleach and the second full strength bleach, both for 36hrs.
Might try long term UV exposure, but as you stated newer plastics are more resistant to it.

I might just buy a cheap guard to prop up in my East facing window and see what happens.

That depends on the material. I saw significant fading on an AVRI 'mint' guard:
Re: Best Aged White Guards?
This is from just the first 8 hours exposure:
I wouldn't bother putting it behind a window; glass absorbs/blocks a lot of UV (almost all UVB and some UVA).
It needs to be outside getting direct exposure.

Thanks for posting this - I don’t know anything about plastics, and less about UVs, still I’m surprised at the change in only 8hrs.
I imagine the plastic for that mint guard is of a different quality than the cheapo tort guard I bought.
I did post earlier about putting in the window, but figured I’d secure it on my balcony instead, where it’ll get the same amount of exposure to sunlight.

I was (very pleasantly) surprised at the change, so much that the guard ended up back on the guitar.
The first 8 hours was very early in Autumn on a warm (34 degree Celsius) day under the harsh Queensland sun, not a cloud in sight and full uninterrupted exposure the whole time.
Red pigments in paint/dye fade faster than others, so I'm interested to see your results. You might wish to add a thin strip of (opaque) tape between the bridge thimbles so you have a 'control' unfaded section to help see what kind of fading is occurring.

The tape for control area is a great idea, and will do thanks.
I’m in Southern California, so Spring sunshine is now available most days. I’ll get the guard up today after applying tape and taking a pic.

Gotta love how the sun faded the old tort. This is my guard off of my JM, "GonkTort".

That looks pretty incredible - how long did you leave it exposed ?

I got it this way around 15 years ago off of eBay. I'd imagine it was soaking in the sun for a few decades prior to me buying it.
