In regards to my red Duo, I had looked into ordering another set of pickups from EPCustom, but they had their shop temporarily down for a bit. I decided to get a set from Tone Hatch instead. I've liked all the pickups I've had from them, so it seemed like a no brainer and they had a two week lead time. So those arrived the other day and I got them wired in immediately. It's very easy with my "New Standard" Mustang wiring. All the pickup wires go to switch lugs, and there's no need to remove the control plate to change ground connections on the volume pot.

Since I had the strings off, I decided to change out the bridge, from the modified Toronado, to one of my fax Gemini Stainless Steel bridges. It's essentially a Musicmaster bridge in a very basic, stripped back form. I have 8 or 9 sitting around, mostly complete. They just need polishing, which I have to do by hand right now, and saddles. I used a set of Gotoh In-Tune saddles here. I put a new custom set of strings from Stringjoy on. I slightly tweaked the sizes from last time, to get a little more tension on a few strings. The updated gauges are .028W, .022W, .015, .010, .016, .0115. I'm also trying out a few new stickers, not sure how I feel about those yet.

Another fuzz pedal, cause you really can't have too many of those. This is a copy of the Lizard Queen from JHS/EHX, specifically the nano box version. I did this one on strip board, just to do it and to practice that process. Sounds pretty cool, and different enough from the few other octave fuzz pedals I have around here. Of course, the graphics had to be Lisa Simpson proclaiming herself the Lizard Queen, after she fell off of a ride at Duffland.

So I finished making my Tube Screamer. It's a bog standard TS808 clone. I always think of the aesthetics of the TS9 when I think Tube Screamer though, so the finished pedal leans more in the TS9 side, with the shade of green and small tone knob, even if the circuit is a TS808. It's all Tube Screamers to me, and I only need one in my library.

The graphics feature Kodos, one half of the Rigellian duo Kang & Kodos. I went with Kodos over Kang, so there would be more female representation in the lineup :boobs: I feel like the space helmet gives her a very strong resemblance to a vacuum tube. I bet it sounds good stacked into my Moe (Marshall) or my Ralph (Dumble).

I made a Jangle Box Compressor. It was supposed to be very Byrds/Beatles/Petty sounding, and it is. Much chime. I don't have a 12 string, but it sounds great with regular and Nashville tuning. It even sounded good in front of a Rat.

Mine features graphics of Mr. Sparkle. I should have used black text, cause the white can be hard to read on the sparkly silver powdercoat. Still happy with it all the same though.

That's so amazing! I don't know how you keep finding the perfect character to use for these. Carl and Lenny was seriously *chefs kiss* :w00t: As was the Kodos TS!!

Thanks! Some of the pairings have come quick and easy, while others take time to figure out. I actually had Mr. Sparkle mocked up on two other circuits before I put him on the Janglebox. He was on a Zendrive (decided not to build that) and a delay before that, but neither of those seemed right. It didn't connect on enough levels. It wasn't until I started looking at compressors that it all fell into place. A big part, is that there are so many Simpsons characters, and I started with a really long list of circuits to build, and by making most of the Simpsons artwork to have the same format, the artwork is mostly interchangeable. I usually have the artwork done and ready for months before I get them printed, so there's time to sit with the designs for a bit, and to make sure I'm happy with the matchup. Sometimes I end up swapping a few around at the last minute to great results though.

I do still have a long list of characters to work with. I haven't done anything for Marge yet! I need art still. She's mostly a straight-man character, so there isn't as much funny stuff with her. I already have art for Cletus worked up, but don't know where to put him. I'm also realizing I may need to redo the Bender artwork on a different pedal, because that Hudson Broadcast would be perfect for a certain Simpsons character. That's a dilemma there.

Broadcast sounds like Kent Brockman to me.

Gotta do a JHS Moonshine clone for Cletus.

Yes!!!! I had the idea to make an MXR Blue Box into a Marge pedal...

Yeah, I was definitely thinking of Kent Brockman for that. It seems too perfect of a match to not do it. I don't know where else he could go either.
JHS Moonshine for Cletus would be a brilliant match. The one problem there is, I don't want a Moonshine, since it's basically a TS, and one of those circuit types is enough for me right now.

That's exactly what I've been thinking for her. I thought her gravelly growl would fit for an octave fuzz, and then there's the blue hair of course.
I was thinking of doing that one in a slightly different format than the circle.

In other blue news, I have a Boss Blues Driver project on my desk now. I'm just waiting on a few 5n6 caps to arrive, so I can finish it up. I have never played a Blues Driver and I'm pretty stoked on the graphics I did for the enclosure.

I had a Blue Box for a while. Honestly a terrible pedal. I think Marge deserves better.

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about mine either. You could do a clone of anything from Beetronics (Marge's beehive hairdo!) or because her voice is a bit buzzy (fuzz). I almost wonder if Marge would be a great Tonebender...

I'll take that into consideration then. I had it on the list because Buzz Osborne from the Melvins had used one early on. I have a Deep Blue Delay that needs a new box. I still need some good Marge art though.

If you're using Marge for a pedal, you should label the quiet side of the volume pot "mcguppies" and the loud side of the volume pot "bazongas"

That would be clever! I'm trying to keep everything within the first 10 seasons though. Those are the ones I'm most familiar with and have seen the most. After season 11 or 12, I was working, and then was in the military. I know I've watched those years (up to s20 maybe?), but really don't remember much and eventually stopped altogether. Meanwhile, the early stuff had been airing in syndication for a few years, so I saw those a ton.

I'm actually doing my first re-watch in a very long time- currently in season 7. I have no plans to watch all 36 ( :wtf: ) seasons, though will probably watch all the Halloween episodes at least.

I never watched past season 10 either, but I remember that... I thought it was early-ish... hmm...
