Re: Pink Paisley Mustang Bass Project
While the body is curing, I worked on the neck. I’ve never been fond of the reissue decal, so I went with the vintage correct decal
Vintera 60’s decal
Sanded off
Trying different shades to get the color right. (the 60s has a green hue and the 70s are brown)
The final result paired with 67 vintage tuners and hootenanny strap button

Re: Pink Paisley Mustang Bass Project
Thanks for all the kind words
I guess I can call it a done. I started this project to recreate CS master builder Vincent Van Trigt’s work as I was 12k short of buying his Mustang bass. Lol. I went for a vintage ‘look’ that was as close to the original, not CS paisley reissues. I focused on details as they were when it left the factory in 1968, including the color and positioning of the headstock logo, the thickness of the lines, and the different colors on the paisley patterns. (Except for the right textured backing paper) This became a semi-vintage restoration, giving the bass an old soul trapped in a young body.
Vintera 60s Parts: body, neck, pickguard, neck plate
1967 Parts: Pickup, bridge, tuners, control plate, electronics
Next to the restored 1971 Mustang bass
