so I bought this for my daughter about 3 years ago when she expressed interest in guitar, she was 13 at the time and short scale, thinner neck seemed the way to go. she loved it and woodshedded the hell out of it for about a year until I bought her an epiphone sg modern, which she absolutely loves. has kind of soured her on all other guitars. 24 frets, slim neck, unbelievable access, etc. she prefers it to any guitar she has played since. so her supersonic hung on her wall untouched for almost 2 years. I tried selling it but it made no sense, especially since I had upgraded tons of stuff, all hardware, guts, etc.
so I decided to mod it.
had a pick guard made for it (more expensive than it should be since it's such an oddball guitar) and went with a jr. motif.
the headstock color was way too light, it kinda clashed for me so I decided to paint it black. also I don't like the supersonic lettering, too cartoony. I had a fender strat logo lying around from a previous build so I put it on over the gloss. might go with a more custom logo at some point.
anyways, i love how it looks now. and sounds killer. bootstrap pickups. super cheap but look and feel premium.

Really cool! Only change I would make it to put some Tele knobs on it - you have a nice thing going with a black pickup in a black guard, I feel like chrome knobs in a chrome plate would complement that and the amber knobs are just sticking out a bit for me. But really great tasteful mods!!

Very nice. Always loved the Supersonic albeit never held one. I remember them from guitar shops in the 90s.

thanks, i see what you mean, but i'm kinda liking the splash of color while everything else is stark. tried every other color knob i had and liked this the best, have tele knobs on my tele, might put them on just to get an idea at some point though.Deed_Poll wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2024 6:45 amReally cool! Oh man that’s rad! I think black knobs would look cool too; instead of the suggested Tele knobs.
