Bought this neck on a whim, unsure of next steps
Saw that this thing had heel truss adjust and well shaped inlays so said fuck it and bought it. Feels pretty good, at least to my layman hands and eyes. The logo looks kinda weird, and the blocks are almost silver, like you’d see on a lot of MIJ guitars’ dots.
I’d like to throw something cheap together but am having trouble deciding. I was hoping to find a loaded CV body in sunburst or something but also would like to be able to have it wear a little better but that means a bunch more money for some kinda nitro situation so whatever.
I was surprised to find this thing for the price. Usually the stuff available at that price point look way shittier. Anyway, check it out, tell me what you think I should do with it

These necks are cool. They are by far the best cheapo Chinese necks out there!
The logo looks really good. Better than some fakes I've seen.
But dude, the foot pics?

Looks pretty good, especially at the price point. Does that have a finish?

Excusing the toes cuz... Necks, yes! Toes, no! But I absolutely agree. I have two of those necks (no logo) and they're fantastic feeling! Chunky without being overbearingly big feeling, Skinny Nut™, decent frets (a high fret here or there that can be fixed easily), and an actual 9.5" radius.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 4:00 amThese necks are cool. I wish they would make this exact neck without the B&B (just dots) but every time I've asked if they can do things they tell me what they make is what they make. I don't think they realize that some basic options could actually make them more money.

Re: Bought this neck on a whim, unsure of next steps
This one isn’t one of the ones rerouted thru the UK, if that’s what you guys are talking about? I have one of those on a Jazzmaster and it’s really nice but this was wayyyy cheaper on eBay and I got it from what looked like a random seller, not one of the factories. It was a weird find so I hope the truss Rod even works. The nut is prettty deep, like a solid half inch and I’m anxious to mess with it before it’s out onto anything.
I’m thinking maybe I’ll get an unfinished body and take a swing on finishing a guitar for real finally. My dream guitar has always been a LPB CBS Jaguar but I’m still holding out hope that one day we’ll get an AV66 reissue. Maybe I’ll go black, or if it’s not a totally insane thought, some kinda sparkle deal? Gonna go look at some reranch pics

Oh well, so that has been it with our OSG D&B Jag neck monopoly on the current market.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 12:04 amI just bought this on a whim.
Dots and Binding Jaguar neck.
I found two different listings on ebay, one for 52,99 and one for 73,99 (both „or best offer“) - if they‘re anything like my roasted B&B JM neck, they‘re decent necks. Surely with their limitations. Does anyone know? Do they have Jumbo frets as well? Is one finished the other unfinished?

My guess is they are identical to the blocks and binding necks they have. 9.5" radius with jumbo frets.

I bought one as well last week. After seeing everyone's post here I figured it was worth the risk at $70. What I'm not sure about is if they are indeed roasted or sprayed to look roasted.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 12:04 amI just bought this on a whim.

I think the difference between those two auctions is one has free shipping (73.99) and one is 52.99 + 20 shipping. Same neck, same general price, but different sellers.MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 1:02 amOh well, so that has been it with our OSG D&B Jag neck monopoly on the current market.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 12:04 amI just bought this on a whim.

Are they finished? Not a bad neck, at least for the price.MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 1:02 amOh well, so that has been it with our OSG D&B Jag neck monopoly on the current market.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 12:04 amI just bought this on a whim.

I literally just received one of those. As much as I hate fake Fender decals I have to say I'm impressed by the quality of the decal, even down to the metallic gold portion of the logo.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 12:04 amI just bought this on a whim.

It's not as chonky as the B&B necks I got straight from China on eBay but it's still pretty meaty and the fretboard radius is a perfect 9.5".

Re: Bought this neck on a whim, unsure of next steps
My experience with these necks so far is they are legit roasted maple. And the finish is usually still tinted for some reason.
There's a thin coat of sealer on these necks which is good enough.
