I don't know...it's Copacetic's brainchild...I was just an executor.
But building this, I fell in love with Bass V. Do you mind if I ask you a few things on PM?

I should mention that this isnt really my brainchild as much as it's Dan Katz' (Deed_Poll)! He posted a bass v guitar idea around a year ago on a thread here and I immediately fell in love with it! He was going to work on fleshing out that idea but hes a busy guy and maybe seemed to have lost interest in it and I felt bad for always bugging him about it. So I asked Boris if he could make something happen and he definitely delivered! My Bass V Guitar dreams will come true at last!

Color ideas are welcome :-) Leaning towards spraying one in a nice Sherwood Green, but not fully decided yet. I'm thinking competition orange for mine though....

Made some proper progress on a bass I've been planning around an Ibanez Soundgear neck I got last year and then did nothing with for a while.

The black veneer centreline is going to show all my failings if my measurements for centering the neck pocket are even slightly out but that's future Rob's problem.

On my bench is a pair of those...

That's a customer's CIJ, on which I have done quite a bit of work already, notably fixing tremolo issues and re-finishing it in purple. He asked me for a pair of hum-cancelling pickups that sounded like single coils...I thought that it would be a good time to give a spin to a design I'd been wanting to do in a JM format for a while.

While the bobbin arrangement is similar to a Fener XII, the coil and magnets are a lot shorter, to keep the sound closer to that of JM pickups. Wire is finer too. I need to tweak a few things (the offset in winding between the neck & bridge isn't right - bridge could do with a few more turns, neck with a few less, so that their output matches better) but those are a blast - single coil sound, no hum, really sweet in the neck and something of a mix between a Tele bridge and a JM bridge in the treble position. I'll be making more of those :)

My one thousandth guitar pedal is in the books!!! The aptly named 1E3 Boost celebrates this silly milestone with something truly not fancy at all. A nice, tasteful, utilitarian booster and line driver. Clean volume boost of up to 20 dB, nothing more.

All done on my Squier Paranormal Cyclone rattlcan refinish project. Sanding off the old Rose Gold sparkle finish was a pain and the body isn't smooth and pristine, unfortunately. Far more experienced folks would have done a much better job. Looks fantastic from about 20 feet.

I used Gracey's Finishes' Dark Sherwood Green. I previously used their old Sherwood Green (now currently known as Light Sherwood Green) on a Squier VM Jag. It turned out alright but the color was, well, too light for Sherwood Green. The Dark Sherwood Green is a significant improvement. It has some subtle sparkle to it but it's definitely more of a flat matte finish than a Fender Sherwood Green metallic finish.

As I was reinstalling the tremolo block today, I chipped a small bit of the paint and you can see the original Candy Apple Red poly finish near the tremolo arm. You have to see the body up close to notice it though.

Despite the flaws, I love it. This Cyclone has a set of Fender Pure Vintage '65 Jaguar pickups for neck & bridge and Fender AVRI '62 Jaguar neck pickup for the middle pickup. Such a fun little beast. :)

That's really cool. I can imagine nothing sweeter than a JM neck pickup (the Lollar that I already have) but I'd be open to change for the bridge position. Do you see what you're doing as a bridge pickup combining nicely with one of these?

My Goya Panther has found its way to the bench. Some pretty nasty work had been done:

It's been leveled and given a compound radius that works with the bridge saddle radius:

Nice work, any more progress?

^Yep, it's pretty much dialed in now. I just need to do some shaping of the nut and oil the board and that's the neck taken care of. Also I want to try bypassing the cap/resister network and see what difference that makes to the sound of those minihumbuckers.
