These are all excellent, really love how the Marauder turned out with the aged yellow finish.

Thank you! Initially I felt like it was too yellow, but it really has been growing on me

Wanted to post some in-progress pics of the current batch. Ton of fun so far with a couple little mistakes here and there. Routed out one of these to a swimming pool route, think I’m going to do 3 pickups! Overall looking great to me. 4 jazzmasters; one in Faded Tahitian Coral nitro, one in Blue Sparkle poly (looks black right now, need to keep layering on the blue sparkle), one in Burgundy Mist Metallic nitro, and one in Ocean Turquoise nitro! 3 for me, one for a buddy

Some recent projects from this month:

This is a strat for a buddy. Graffiti Yellow nitro over a Sonic Blue nitro. The plan is to do some intentional sand throughs so that Sonic Blue shows in spots. My buddy splurged for a pearloid pickguard from Spitfire for this one. I can’t wait to see this all put together and relic’d.

I had this Cyclone body laying around from a Pro Audio sale last year. Decided to give Krylon Glitter Blast a try. This is the Orange Blast glitter over a “Matte Sunshine” base

And here are a couple quick mock ups on guitars that are still curing. Jazzmaster in Blue Balls sparkle from Roth Metal Flake. And another Jazzmaster in Faded Tahitian Coral nitro from Great Lakes Custom colors.

Inspiring post. I particularly enjoyed seeing the behind the scenes look with the heat gun and scraper ....

I may be refinishing an old Fernandez Vertigo this summer and if I do I'll be using the heat gun too. Less toxic than chemicals and less messy than sanding.

Thanks for posting it. Great results BTW!

Looking great!

I did a guitar top in fuschia Krylon Glitter Blast a few years ago and it took lots of clear, and lots of time to cure, but it looked awesome.

Oh man, after the experience of peeling the poly with a heat gun, I dread the next time I have to do it. If I was doing a personal build I'd probably just as soon buy a blank body. I ended up getting frustrated and taking a sander to it haha, which wasn't too kind on the curves. Luckily it's just a personal build so I wasn't too stressed.

I'm 3 cans of the Rust-oleum 2x clear into it now and probably would say it's only half covered. Definitely at least another 2-3 cans to go. I've been slowly dumping a can a week or so when I have the time. I opted for the matte clear just to try something different, I'm not sure if I love it. But I do like that Orange sparkle. Reminds me of those old Fender Supersonics.

I think this is my next build project color - I'm really into this dark blue sparkle finish lately. :?

Is this the same guitar body using the Blue Balls sparkle from Roth Metal Flake?

Image

If not, what is the brand name of the Blue Sparkle poly finish?

Yup, that's the same guitar! It was Greasy Black basecoat with a Blue Balls flake both from Roth. I think I had 2 cans of each color. And I finished it off with nitro clear. I did do a couple layers of aged nitro clear on there, but it didn't seem to have much effect. If you look close at the picture of it in my hand, the top left horn and down the left side look a bit more green. That's the aged clear I kind of built up along the edge in hopes to make it a bit more lived-in looking. I really dig this Roth color because it's not an over the top flake the way some finishes are. It's kind of subdued and can pass as sort of vintage-y. Plus, it doesn't take 15 cans of nitro clear to cover, I think it comfortably covered with 2.5-3 cans.

Very cool! I see the green, too - nice! Thanks for the info, I'll have to put an order in for the Greasy Black basecoat and the Blue Balls flake from Roth. Thanks! :)

Hey dude! Yeah it's "Yaheetech Pro Mechanic Bicycle Repair Workshop Stand Foldable Maintenance Rack." I got it from Amazon. I couldn't figure out how to make the actual link work. The stand works great for spraying things horizontally. And then I just custom made a "neck" holder using PVC pipe and wood

Nice! Thanks, man! I've actually already got a couple lengths of PVC pipe that I used a heatgun on and flattened the ends of to bolt onto bodies. Got my daughter's Mustang kit body hanging off one at the moment. LOL That will work perfectly!
