I mean, doesn't that make sense? Pretty sure Dinosaur Jr. has a much, much bigger fan base than The Cribs, and definitely a much more impactful legacy.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 11:41 pmMeanwhile they keep giving J.Mascis Signature guitars.
Not to mention the fact that the two Fender guitars J plays are massively popular. Telecasters are perennial and Jazzmasters are at an all-time high in their popularity. The Musuar is a mashup of two of Fender's much less popular shortscales. It took Fender almost 40 years to even make an American Mustang, and until the AVII release, there's a single American Jaguar model available. Compare that to the number of Jazzmaster and Telecaster models.
The Musuar will remain the type of niche guitar OSGers lust after, and pretty much nobody else.
The artist formerly known as mbene085.

Worth pointing out as well that if it wasn't for Marr joining the Cribs for a while I doubt the Musuar would have even existed in the first place.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

It's alder.
It's pretty solid.

Thanks! To avoid misunderstanings, 'soft' was not meant as a dig or a general comment of it being 'softwood' or bad in any way... just that it looked very smooth, in a good way. What kind of finish is it getting?

Stunning! Is that a standard Mustang control plate or is it machined especially for this model?CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 6:52 amThis one was completed not long ago.

Re: Musuar build
The switch plate was made by faction guitars.
It's cut for 2 mustang 3way switches.
It's wired like a mustang.
But if you're talking about the volume tone control plate, that's just a typical Jaguar style one.

I meant the volume knob plate although I can see the plate with the switches looks unique.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 12:20 amThe switch plate was made by faction guitars.

I thought a Jag volume knob plate might be a bit oversized for this smaller body, but looks like my assumption was wrong.
(The reason I'm asking so many questions is because I plan to try to build one myself - my first attempt at using a power saw and router to build my own body.)
I'll stay off the nice alder, swamp ash and that and practice on cheap rubber wood and pine to begin with.

Re: Musuar build
The design itself is the result you get when you split one half of a mustang and the other a Jaguar exactly down the middle. So maybe it looks a bit weird? I guess that's the whole point.
Here's how mine looked before I sold it.
