Design Ideas
While I am finishing up the mahogany Mustang project I started to think about some next projects.
This first one is little retro idea. Thinking about tapering the sides down.
Double cut because I wanted to see what it looked like
Second Idea is the a Fender Mashup. Upper horn is a Fender Bullet the double cut version, Mustang Body w/ and w/o a Jaguar lower bout.

.
Number one 'retro' but the upper bout with the opposite angle (inward angled like your double cut drawing but keeping the strap pin at the same fret-forward position), mov the strap pin more outboard closer to the horn than shown. Use a six-in-line headstock on it not 3+3. Swap the pickups for a classic Jazzmaster pushed as close to the end of the neck as possible (use a P90-style pickup cover soap bar or dog ear not the JM bump-outs so you can get it closer to the neck). Then two jaguar pickups put next to each other as a bridge pickup and both angled like a Strat/Tele bridge pickup. Then a 4-way Tele blade switch (adds pickups in series) for pickup contronl with a push/pull tone pot for the two series pickups at the bridge, set so 'down' is both in humbucking mode (default) and up for split (preference the neck side jaguar pickup for more mids like a P90).
So the pickups look like this: // []
Kind of like the Robbie Robertson Strat

Re: Design Ideas
the stretch-armstrong mustang is cool. the retro 1 design can be fun. not sure about the angled strat pickups, I think it’d be interesting to follow the angle of the lower horn and tilt your neck pickup that way to match (and possibly bridge pickup, slightly twangier low e and ever so less bright high e.)
