Impulse buy incoming from Japan.... Help me pick a color!

So I may have been under the influence one night last week, and I may have found myself perusing Japan eBay listings as I am a glutton for (wallet) punishment. Allegedly, I made a crazy lowball offer on this which was swiftly accepted:


Its an Eastwood Maverick Custom, a -somewhat- vintage correct budget/intermediate level version of the ultra rare Fender Maverick. These came out around 2019 apparently in very small numbers, shortly before Fender released their Maverick Dorado (a thouroughly sweet guitar in my opinion) and at the time this was the only reissue of the Maverick that had really been attempted in earnest. Like the originals, they werent exceedingly popular and were phased out swiftly it seems. I had no idea these even existed until i stumbled upon the japan listing, and since a maverick has been a dream build of mine for a while, i seized the opportunity.

So now its on the way here! I expect to enjoy it mildly as-is, but you guys know me, im gonna mod the hell out of this thing!
First thing that has to go is the pickguard. Cheap printed tort and that huge gap around the bridge, yuck! Having my buddy Jeff from Lomic Guitars make a new guard in either Parchment or Aged Pearl, havent decided yet. Next to go will be the off-brand trem and tuners. I have a spare Fender Classic player unit i'll likely throw on there as well as some 70s style F tuners w/ white buttons

And of course, it HAS to get a new nitro refin with a matching headstock! Only thing is, i have option paralysis and cant choose! I've been leaning towards purple as its my favorite color and i've been meaning to build myself a metallic purple offset for about a year now. However, Aztec Gold, CAR and BMM have been calling my name as well...

So you guys tell me! Which would you pick?!

I reserve the right to veto whichever one wins the poll, (my guitar anyways ) but mainly just wanted to gush over this project with you guys and get some feedback on the finish and these guitars in general.

And i agree about the Maverick Dorado - everything except that stupid AOM bridge.

I feel like purple and BMM are splitting the vote and would be winning if there was only one shade. They're pretty similar.

I'm in the Firemist camp, personally, but they all look great.

I thought I was definitely going to pick the Burgundy Mist but I am really not a fan of that on these photos. That Aged Firemist Silver was the winner for me but I think you can't go wrong with the couple of top vote-getters!

arrgh, i just noticed the weird/different plate now that you mentioned it and now i cant unsee it lol. I dont think itll bother me too much though, especially once the bridge/pickguard gap is closed.

It arrived in TN today according to the tracking.. supposed to be here by wednesday. Already ordered the replacement tuners (no white buttons were available in lefty so its getting regular F tuners) and going to get the paint mixed up tomorrow/tuesday... cant wait til it arrives

Looking like its gonna be the purple after all, its winning the poll by a slim margin but i just keep coming back to it. Ive already got a "secret lavender" purple bass vi tho, so im gonna make sure this purple comes out different & less silver/blue looking

Yeah the jazz bass control plate completely ruins it, IMO.
I'd be popping a faction XII plate on there. I'm sure you can make it fit.
That, or at least a Mustang control plate.

Yup, Thats the way id go Also "if I had the skills..Which I dont" convert it to mustang vibrato

Normally I'm BMM all the way but that Ford purple is really lovely

Firemist is what I'd go for, but purple also looks damn good.

Most likely spraying the Non-reverse Firebird/Jazzmaster mashup im working on (or one of these jazzmaster builds) in Aztec Gold so no worries, you'll definitely be seeing some aztec soon!
