That... Is a good shout. I'd still need to glue in a filler to mount the bridge thoughgaryptaszek wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 5:02 amMod a Toronado bridge to take tele saddles and use the intonation screw holes for top loading

AKA ‘bubba mod’. I have one in a bullet mustang, and i was going to do the same to my affinity JM but kept the strat saddles (since it’s string-through).garyptaszek wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 5:02 amMod a Toronado bridge to take tele saddles and use the intonation screw holes for top loading
i love the bridge shape so much that I would consider it worthwhile to plug the strat bridge hole. I also have irrational hate toward strat bridges.
I had a reverb source for these pickguards with the toronado bridge shape but now I can’t recall who it was.

I didn't know that he does custom work- I've used his stuff for the 3 Jagmasters I've had; his inventory is extensive and the prices are competitive with chinese stuff.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 11:00 pm
Yeah, Brian aka earlpilanz on eBay, makes them. All kinds and custom if you want. 27 quid delivered. His work is, like, 8/10 and often need a little fettling to get right but he does almost every guard imaginable and is very fairly priced.
This one has gone pretty yellow/gold as well in the flesh. I'd say it's halfway between the two...I really dig the shade it's turned. Like a warm silver.
I do like the way that 20 yea-old poly yellows. The silver sparkle Jagmasters were highly underrated guitars, they've really gone up in price during the pandemic. I bought two of them before the pandemic and sold one for nearly twice that; I almost regret selling it.

Re: Operation: budget Jagmaster Junior aka: The Sparkle B*stard
The last couple of parts I needed arrived finally for this. The pickguard had been ever so slightly bent by the mail I can live with it as it's barely noticeable but, if it's a hassle for the dude to replace, I'll just leave it (and likely forget about it within a week).
Had a visit from forumite GaryPtaszek last night, went out to dinner, then hung out and played guitar for a bit. After he left I was wide awake so wired it up.
I went with just a straight-up traditional Gibson Jr wiring system. Everything checked out on the meter but it was too late at night to string up and test. That'll be tonight.
You can also see I did the 3-saddle swap on the old strat bridge. Looks a lot better, if not wholly less accurate...but that's not the important thing, right?

Re: Operation: Juniormaster aka: The Sparkle B*stard
Sooooo, I got home from work and had a go plugged in. It's a righteous little bastard if I do say so myself.
The setup needs a little tweak here and there but it seems stable despite the neck being off a guitar for a hot minute. It's great fun to play and sounds quite like a Junior, but with that slight extra looseness to the sound that the Fender 25.5" scale brings. I do keep instinctively reaching for a vibrato arm however.
So with everything done, including strings, the total spend was:
£177.19
Leaving me £22.81 under budget. So I guess I better go spend that on some second hand glittery trousers and start myself a Glam Rock band, no?

Love this, I made a single pickup Jazzmaster Junior a few years ago (probably closer to 10 years actually, fuck) but without glorious sparkles.
I really need a sparkly guitar.
