Stickered Blue and Non Jazzmasters Finished on PG 2

Post by HNB » Thu Jul 08, 2021 7:06 pm

I got this body from Guitar Mill. So far I have sealed it and added grain filler. Once the grain filling is done, I am going to seal it again and then it should be ready for the color and clear coat. Going to cover it with stickers. :) That is the plan. I know it is polarizing, but I want a stickered up Jazzmaster and I didn't find a body I wanted for cheap so I figured I would paint my own. :) Here are pictures. (I KNOW it is beautiful ash. I am sticking to the plan!!) :D

Sanded the filler off. It is hanging in the garage with a coat of shellac over it. :)

When you’re done, I’m going to buy it from you, pull all the stickers off, and start a thread about the best way to remove old adhesive from the finish.

Color going on. :) It looks like needed a second round of grain filler to be totally flat, but it isn't too bad. Should work fine for the stickers. LOL

I have been having a terrible time with this Rustoleum paint. A poplar surf green Squier body popped up and I will use it instead while I wait on this paint to cure. It is nice because it already has a tremolo and thimbles. :) Stickers went on pretty well. It is a lot of fun. (Even though I know some people hate them.)

Still hammering away so to speak on the other body. The clear keeps running. It is pissing me off. I waited two days to sand out the runs, sprayed again and new runs. FFFFFFFFF!!!! Rustoleum sucks!!

Decided to do a coat of shellac and use minwax poly instead of rustoleum. That clear coat sucks balls....

This is sweet! My first guitar was a cheap plywood Strat copy that sounded like got ass, and got covered in stickers. I loved that guitar for many many years, until I got one with real wood, and then I couldn't play it anymore. The stickers really take me back. I might've even had that Linkin Park sticker on there too :D :D

The stickers date me music wise, but I really enjoy it. They kinda make me smile. :D
