Re: -= Bridge FAQ =-
Hi,
i disassembled my US jazzmaster bridge and noticed, once it was done ( ), that there's 2 springs shorter and 4 saddles ' screw smaller than the others.
so my question is : with witch saddles do they match (the E's one or the middle ones)
thx.

Re: -= Bridge FAQ =-
OK, so I just bit the bullet and bought a mustang bridge. Of course, it's going to take 3 weeks to get here from the US, but it's fine. My CIJ Jag bridge was just giving me too much hassle, and the last setup I got just fucked it up completely, it won't intonate no matter how much I try, I don't know what happened...oh well.
The point is, when the mustang bridge arrives, and I just drop it in, the height adjustment is simply a question of taste/action right? It won't affect intonation or anything as long as I adjust the saddles correctly?

Re: -= Bridge FAQ =-
Awesome collection of bridge mods and descriptions- too bad I learned all those separately all over the internet over quite some time before finding it all summed up in this forum. I heard a great idea for solving the mustang saddle spacing issues- you can take a plier-style hole puncher and punch out little disks of thin guitar picks and super glue them on the right hand side of the first 5 saddles. I have no problems with the saddles I ordered from allparts, but if I start to, this will be the first thing I do! Thanks again for the great FAQ!

hmm allright, so i decided i want a mustang bridge; i used to think the jm bridge was more fun but now it just annoys me.
just a question, my strings are really loose with the jm bridge and they allways keep popping out and the low e doesnt sound as good as it should. will the mustang bridge fix this?

Not once. I deliberately strummed for ages playing so hard it was chronically out of tune and didn't skip out of the saddles once. I'm using 11 gauge strings, but on the Jag scale that's normal.

I haven't had a problem with strings popping out of my Japanese Jazz/Jag bridges..
Maybe I need to hit em harder...

I rarely have that problem, and it's only because of EXTREME tremolo picking...

Re: -= Bridge FAQ =-
Part of the reason I got the new bridge was because of saddle problems but mostly because it had just the most awful setup, by a guy who, naturally, didn't understand how Offsets work. I had dead frets everywhere, bends completely choked out after the 12th fret and it just wouldn't intonate for some reason, no matter how much I adjusted the bridge, and the threads of the adjustment screws eventually wore away so they wouldn't turn properly anyway. All of those issues have magically disappeared since I changed the bridge.
I do kind of miss the sound a little though. The ringing behind the bridge has reduced dramatically.

Re: -= Bridge FAQ =-
I just installed an Allparts Mustang bridge on my CIJ JM. I'm liking it a lot already.
Looks clean, doesn't rattle and make a bunch of noise.
I also got a new Buzzstop in the deal with the bridge, but I'm holding off on trying it until I really see/hear a need for it.
