Basic VI tremolo question

Pretty basic question for those that know-

I have a Squier VI on pre-order from CME (the Shell Pink version) and I wanted to know if there are any considerations for upgrading the tremolo from the stock piece to a Panorama or American Vintage trem? Are the string holes already large enough to accommodate the VI string diameters?

Sounds like the trems can handle either guitar or bass strings so that’s all good news. I read in a different thread about the Staytrem VI bridge so, yeah, that’s on my radar as well. I do like their bridges- I have one on my 2018 MIJ Paisley JM and I have a 2nd bridge for a JM build I hope to start later this spring.

There's only one downside to the Staytrem: no mute plates. You can use a mute plate on the stock Mustang bridge, or (slightly modified) on a Mastery, but because the Staytrem is "original" size like the OG (and Vin2era) VI - the stock plate doesn't fit. And none have been made since the 70's.

Other than that, it's just superior.

Yeah, a mute will work fine with a regular Staytrem bridge. A regular Jaguar mute will hit the bottom of a proper 1" Bass VI bridge, Staytrem or not.

I would love to get my hands on a Bass VI mute and bring it to a machine shop to see how hard it would be to replicate it in stamped steel.

Are there any active patents or copyrights on it?

Or for that matter, milled or sintered steel. The former is more complex being double sided - but not impossible, and the latter seems frankly unchallenging. Something like DMLS or FFF. Neither method would need a custom tool, is the point.

And frankly, for testing purposes - PLA would work just fine too. I'd love to get a VI mute plate modelled.
