They should be leveled too right?

Only to the point of (carefully) setting what would normally be known as the 'nut action'. I would leave the zero fret alone until you have finished the rest of the fretboard. You'll probably find it needs very little (or no) attention.

I've found on 'normal' necks that the nut slots usually only require a small amount of touching up post levelling.

The one im looking at has some divots where each string rests.

I'm currently building a guitar with a zero fret, so I did some research into this a few months back. Pretty much everything I found said to treat the zero fret like the other frets when leveling. It should be the same height, same plane as the other frets. If you capo at say, the fifth fret, that essentially becomes a "zero" fret, and the string action provides enough height to clear the sixth fret. It shouldn't be any different at frets zero and one.

Yes, i think that is right. The zero fret should be leveled, which i failed to,when i did it a few weeks ago on my Guyatone. :fp:
