AMerican Performer Jazzmaster bridge

Post by Hello JM » Sun Jun 19, 2022 7:22 pm

Hi, does anyone know the model name for the bridge used in the Fender American Performer Jazzmasters, or where I could get a replacement bridge? I'm looking for a replacement bridge for it because my one has become bent out of shape (long story...).

Thanks!

Think it’s just a Strat trem/bridge no? You should be able to get the exact part name and number from the spec sheet man, guess it could have slightly different dimensions but don’t see it.

Yeah, for the most part it's just a regular strat bridge.

IIRC, it's the Highway One bridge, but I don't have it in front of me to double check. That would have the wider mounting screw spacing, with narrower string spacing, and it's made by Ping in Taiwan. There's plenty of alternatives.

Highway One strat bridge would make the most sense, as the American Performer series replaced American Special, which was a replacement for Highway One.

Yep, I think this is the one: https://reverb.com/item/57204815-fender ... mint-22061
Should be same for strat and jazz in that series

I'm not sure a tapered block would really affect anything unless the routing is different enough for the standard block to not fit. Here's the actual tremolo model that's used on the American Performer strat:

If the Jazzmaster doesn't use the same one, I'd be surprised.

I was sure I had replied to this thread. Turns out it was in the duplicate version ...

The two entries at Riley that have been posted for what appears to be the Am Perf strat's bridge (0072290000 in the AP strat manual I linked) cover two different part numbers, but may? be the same bridge (they have the same nominal spacings).

I pulled out the guitar and took another look. It does have the 2-7/32" mounting screw spacing and 2-1/16" string spacing.

The block is not tapered, but it's marked PW-38, and the block height is about 38mm nominally (maybe a half mm over).
