Help - Trem bottoms out when lock is engaged - Edit - solved

Post by Joshb » Sat Jun 18, 2022 1:11 am

HI

I have a new to me 2016 MiJ JM. When i have the trem lock set correctly - so it slides in without changing the pitch, the trem will only move down 1 tone before bottoming out and the arm is also really close to the body if i have it setup like that.

I don't understand why this is, everything 'looks' ok to me, my only thought was that the round locking thing was too thick, but it looks like all others.

If anyone could shed some light on this i would be greatly appreciative

cheers

J

OK, so i solved the issue.
.
.
I was pushing the arm too far in

I did not realise you could do that! i was pushing it in so it did not wiggle or rattle. I pulled it out a bit so it is still stiff and now i can adjust for full - (E to B on this JM) movement.

Trouble is now the arm rattles, it did not do that when it was in too far ???

I have ordered a Staytrem bridge and trem collet - hope it gets here in less that the 5 week eta

I will leave this here in case its of use to anyone

cheers

J

Put a slight bend in the bit that goes in the collet, just a real subtle one (that you almost can't even see). That'll stop it rattling and help it stay where you left it
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?
