I recently put together a baritone Jazzmaster, but when I went to string it up, the high E was an inch to short. I used Daddario 12-60 set. It didn’t say it was specifically for Baritones, but it did say it was optimized for c to c tuning. I’ve seen a few of you here with baritone Jazzys, so I figured I’d ask before blindly buying more strings. It’s a 28 5/8 scale, and has the trem on, so the high e needs to be about 40 inches long.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Strings for Baritone Jazzmaster
I am using the D'Addario 13-62 set, which does say baritone on it. There was plenty of length - but, although it is a Jazzmaster body with the same scale length as yours, I have top loading fixed bridge. Tuned to B-B, the string tension is about the same a a standard guitar with 10's on it, so no need to worry about the tension of a thicker set. I would look for a baritone set to get that extra length.

Re: Strings for Baritone Jazzmaster
my experience with baritone strings is basically even brands are inconsistent when it comes to length.
the big problem imho is the high b string. most times i've found daddario strings work but i've also had a few sets that have been a little short. granted, i use these ones in b-b

i've found the ernieball ones are ALWAYS too small. like ALWAYS.

Re: Strings for Baritone Jazzmaster
I use these strings on both of my 28" scale baritones, one is a Jagmaster, with a strat-style tremolo, the other is a Jazzmaster, with a Floating Tremolo. I don't have any fitment issues, although I may have had to ream out the lowest tuning peg to fit the string.schroeder wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 8:14 pmI am using the D'Addario 13-62 set, which does say baritone on it. I like LaBella. I have a Danelectro baritone that has a 29" scale and the strings were still massively overlength. I can't imagine them not being long enough.

Thanks everyone! I’ll give the Daddario set a shot.
