They're easy to bend once you've built up the hand-strength and calluses. The OP will likely find it hard if they've only ever really used baby* strings and it takes repeated use to get up to 11's, 12's etc and not develop hand fatigue.

My suggestion would be to put 11's on and build up to it. Stop thinking how to get extra sustain out of your JM and embrace it for what it is.

Or stick a Big Muff in the chain and crank it.... That'll give you some.



*EDIT: by 'baby' I mean small, not beginner/wimpy, before anyone thinks I'm being a dick
