How best can I fix this crooked neck?

Post by Nayff » Mon Nov 22, 2021 2:05 pm

Hey! I just picked up this old Jaguar and the neck is great just had a problem it’s offset (ha) from the body. I put a pciture in here I have not taken the neck off yet… hoping maybe just taking it off and putting back on with fix it a little bit how would you go about this?

Looks like you can loosen the neck plate screws, reposition it, retighten and you should be off to the races.

The picture doesn’t show…

Correct. Unscrew, align, rescrew. Don’t over tighten the screws, just a gentle hand tighten in enough.

If that fails, you may have to dowel the existing holes and redrill them properly.

Yeh it looks like an extreme case so probably. Worth a try, i have often aligned by a few mil, by loosening a bit and pushing to one side before retightening.
