JM pup trouble!
Hello guys!
I have an issue with my Antiquity II jazzmaster bridge pickup while height adjustment. At some point when I turn it up it started to sound really thin, kinda out of phase with low end buzz. After turning it back the tone becomes normal. I’ve asked my local guitar tech and he said it might be pickup damage. He checked wiring and electronics, said everything ok.
Any thoughts or recommendations?

It isn't really clear from your post when this is happening. Are you talking about when you raise and lower the pickups it happens, or when you turn a knob?

It happened while playing. I took it to my tech, he checked wiring and lowered this pup much. I tried to raise it a bit at home and this weird thing happened. Also I mentioned that if you press the bridge pup with a finger it starts to sound thin after you pull it off the tone gets back to normal.

Yep, when I raise it this happens. And I raise it not so extremely high.adamrobertt wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 4:08 pmIt isn't really clear from your post when this is happening. Are you talking about when you raise and lower the pickups it happens, or when you turn a knob?

Re: JM pup trouble!
Probably a loose lead wire, most likely very easy to fix unless you have some of the coil winding coming undone, but I doubt that based on these symptoms.

Well, as I know my tech rewired it. But maybe I should change the whole lead wire in case it fractured anywhere.adamrobertt wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 5:26 pmProbably a loose lead wire, most likely very easy to fix unless you have some of the coil winding coming undone, but I doubt that based on these symptoms.

Rewired the pickups? I'm talking about a loose wire on the pickup end of things. Doubt the tech touched those without a reason to.Vallely wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 3:10 amWell, as I know my tech rewired it. Seems like something happened with coil wire, I believe. Ohmmeter doesn’t show anything, but pickup still produce sound. My tech suggested replacing it with a new one.
