Jaguar 3 way toggle wiring issue

Post by Rayne72x » Wed Apr 21, 2021 1:20 am

Hey,

I am new to this forum so please be gentle! I know absolutely nothing about wiring a guitar and for whatever reason I’ve decided to do my own and now it is well a bit messed. I wanted to put a 3 way toggle switch mod on my Jaguar. This is the diagram I am using - https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7187/696 ... 6c4672.jpg

Things I have done so far is shield the guitar with copper foil tape and checked that that is all connected via a multi meter. It is.

Everything is being grounded to the back of the volume pot, but I suspect this is a grounding issue.

So the upper plate does not work what so ever when plugged into the amp. The bottom plate with the 3 way switch works but when placed into the guitar as it should be it does not work, it loses it someway. I have a video of this.

I’ve been at this for about a week and a half so if anyone knows how to get this to work with no buzz when plugged in and with the pick ups working it would be greatly appreciated!

Here is some photos of the parts. I can provide more and will do

Thank you

I didn't get any audio in the video, but if you're still having the issue... Is it possible a signal pin is shorting out against the foil? I sometimes put non conductive tape over the shielding near the control devices just in case. And, if you haven't, make sure the shielding is grounded back to the volume pot as well.
Without music, life would be a mistake.
