Gold foils vs Jazzmaster
Need some help from anyone who may have experience with gold foil pickups in a Jazzmaster build. I wonder if the harmonic content is wider in a gold foil type design. Or any pickup that could be considered Hi-Fi or wide range tone..

It will be like putting gold foils in a Tele.
The pickups are the key tone plus any nudging by the pots 'n caps.
Order some pickups, make a temporary pickguard out of hardboard and try it out. You can pick up 1/8th inch hardboard for under $10 for a 4x8 sheet.
Fender used it for their prototypes back in the 50s/60s.
Standard JM pickups here, but a hardboard pickguard, natural gloss finish.
