Do vintage wheels fit on current mini pots?
I have what are believed to be vintage wheels for the rhythm circuit. I have a current fender CTS mini pot and the wheel ID is too small. The pot shaft measures .157 and the wheel Inner diameter .155 inches. Can anyone confirm this? I wonder what the AVRI or Japans wheels measure.

A difference of .002” is probably within tolerance of a mass produced part.

Well .157 inches corresponds to 4 mm. I am thinking the current pots and wheels are made to metric dimensions.

EY specifies their current USA and Japanese compatible wheels ...
4mm on USA, 6mm on Japan ...
USA
https://www.eyguitarmusic.com/2pcsBlack ... _1245.html
Outside Diameter:25.7mm(1.012")
Thickness:6.46mm(0.254")
Center potentiometer hole diameter:4mm(0.157")
Japan
https://www.eyguitarmusic.com/2pcsBlack ... _1244.html
Outside Diameter:25.1mm(0.99")
Thickness:5.75mm(0.226")
Center hole diameter:6mm(0.236")
Maybe vintage MIA wheels were a fraction smaller (or maybe tolerance as suggested, although you would think they would allow enough wiggle room that they would never be too small) ? EY sells complete wiring kits so their USA-compatible wheels do fit current CTS pots.

Thanks this was helpful! So I got a pair of Fender knobs 0054455049, and they measure ~ 0.163” (4.14 mm) so plenty of clearance for a new Fender CTS pot shaft.timtam wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 6:04 pmEY specifies their current USA and Japanese compatible wheels ...

Now I have a set of each old and new, I guess I will keep an eye out for the correct vintage pots at a reasonable price for the old knobs.
