The break angle is not flatter than with the original.
If I´d knew how to upload a picture here, I could send one which show the break angle.

Guitarists are a tough crowd!

Lot of small c conservatism when it comes to designs

Surprised nobody has pointed out that it's basically a hagstrom vibrato transplanted into a JM mounting plate.

Throw in some goldfoils and I could get into it, but only because I like hybrid design guitars. I wouldn't want that on an otherwise "normal" JM or Jag.
I've never used one before- are they any good?
Those units work really well - the Tremar was one of the better designs to come out of the 60s trem-mania. Anthony Paine of Harvester Guitars used a lot of those on his guitars and they are everything you need from a tremolo - sturdy, simple enough to function without too much room for mechanical f**k-ups, and they sound really nice in use. I actually started looking into making a reproduction a couple of years ago.

I really don't mind the Göldo's looks, the 'flying-saucer-grafted-itself-to-my-guitar' aesthetics are kinda fun.

As someone else wrote: the Göldo/Duesenberg/Rockinger stuff is (in my experience) very high quality.

I too made the Tremar connection and actually tried one of their Impala reissues sporting a newly made one. It worked and sounded really well.

I also agree that it would look cool on some oddball but not on a straight JM or Jag.

Maybe it would look cool on my Eastwood Sidejack Deluxe... :w00t:
(got no issues with the cheapo-stock unit - but I agree it's maybe weird on a classy clean Jazzmaster or Jaguar). Well I'm just curious - and impressed by the Les Trem from Göldo/Duesenberg!

I just got one on reverb, I'm gonna use it in an in progress build, now it'll have be Tetsuo for sure. I think it looks just quirky enough, there is a build thread just don't hold your breath. I have Tetsuo Ironman on a fuckin VHS somewhere :w00t:

I love Tetsuo, Body Hammer was fun, but I just watched the short that Tetsuo was based on and that was fun too! The music in Tetsuo The Iron Man hit me like a glorious revelation.

I don’t really agree the trem is reminiscent of Tetsuo tho. Maybe that crazy machine woman but not Tetsuo haha! I don’t find it very attractive, and I wonder if it has the same “throw” as a regular JM trem?

On another guitar it might be ok. Like the bigsby, weird italian or japanese semihollows. Patched into a jazzmaster like its infected by tesuo the iron man is not.
I think you are trying to say something negative, but it's just made me want it more.

I had a group called Tetsuo The Iron Band.

Hello all,

I've been developing my toolpaths for mounting this vibrato into my Jaywalker model, and thought I'd share my progress!

Here's how it will fit into the design

Image

And here are the pictures of the practice route. The mounting bar at the front (with the screws in it) is 6mm thick, and on the Jaywalker it will be recessed 4.5mm into the body. My steel plates will make up the remaining 1.5mm thickness, so this was really a test of the recess shape so I can be sure the laser-cut plates will fit well.

Long story short, I made all the routes 1.5mm deeper than necessary, so I can "pretend" the top surface of the wood is the plate. I wouldn't route it with such tight tolerances of I were doing this as a flush route straight into a body, because paint would obviously make it too snug!

Cheers all

Has anyone found a longer trem arm for these? I was looking at düsenberg arms, but they are 6mm diameter and the dg arm has 5mm... ???
