Ok, the title is pretty much self explanatory.
Basically I'd like to replace my CIJ bridge pickup with a P90 (seymour duncan). I'm not too sure about the wiring though since the values of the trim pots are very different.
My idea would be to wire volume and tone to the neck pickup (and then to the switch) and wire the P90 directly to the other end of the switch. It would look something like this:
To volume, tone and NECK pickup
/
----------------
3 way Switch |--- To Hot output (Tip of jack connector)
----------------
\
To the P90
(obviously i would respect all of the ground connections...)
I studied electronics a few years back but don't remember much to be honest...
Would that electrocute me or make the guitar explode? Would that produce any sound at all??
Just a note: I do know about the curtis novak option but i would still prefer the original design.
Thanks!

I have p90's in my JM and i have it wired pretty simple, but i have removed the rhyhtm circuit, so it's just pickups>3 way switch>volume>tone>jack, works fine and sounds fine, don't know if that's any help or not.

Perhaps use two 500K pots and a 0.45pFu cap instead of the origianl 2 x 1Meg and 0.33pFu cap.
I think your wiring pretty wuch covers it.

Hey guys, thanks for your replies...
I'll have to wait because my uni (only place where i have access to soldering iron and electrical equipment) is closed until after easter.
I'll update this post as soon as get the job done.

Re: Installing P90 on a Jazzmaster (any wiring expert in the forum?)
Ok, so this is what I've decided to do:
Basically I removed tone pots and reduced the values of the volume pots to half (cause this is the value the pickup would normally "see" with both resistances in parallel).
Does any of this make sense to anybody?
Any comments/suggestions would be reallly appreciated...
Thanks!

it makes sense to me!
Architecture students are like virgins with an itch they cannot scratch, never build a building 'till are fifty, what kind of life is that?
